Quick question. You're welcome to elaborate or keep the answer short and sweet.
Which sales gimmick most attracts you to a ball company? Scents, neo marks, warranties, pins on the bottom? Or any others that I am currently forgetting.
Now, answer without performance as the reason. Don't say scent because my HyRoad rolled great... ready? Go!

colors and warranties tend to be the marketing that gets me interested.
I have a bigger list for things that are complete turn offs: names, appearance, attitude of owner/face of company to name a few.
for example: naming a ball "agent orange" after the chemical weapon completely turned me off of Lane 1. Motiv; the way the do the logos on the ball, makes think of cheap silk screened t-shirts. I cant get past that to try one of their balls.

Colors all day. This doesn’t attract me to a brand but individual balls specifically. It could be the best rolling ball on the market but if it looks ugly to me, I will never see it as a nice rolling ball. It will always look weird to me

Word of mouth (hand) on here from the non-staffers more than anything. Pretty much like all the brands because I avoid everyone's lemons for most part and grab what people are raving about. DV8 advertising is cringe worthy and the lamest brand by a long shot but like my Creed so even they get a pass.

It says Hammer or Ebonite :D
-
A ball company? Nothing really. Everybody puts out good stuff. I look more at individual pieces than who makes them.
-
Made in Texas for me!
-
dot and dynamicore led me to my recent release. so far I am really impressed with some of the pin action I have been getting.
-
Retro Releases
-
"Tour edition" even though the only way I'm going to a Tour event is by buying a ticket ;D
-
Made in USA at a minimum
-
For me its one word CLOSEOUT!!
-
Niche balls and balls that others pan!
Those are the ones that most interest me because knowing that everyone makes good stuff, I want to know why or what's wrong with that one?
Other than that, it would have to be color! I like multicolored pieces. I don't have to closely inspect a ball sitting on the ball return to find out if it's mine or not!

Same for me but I don't look at it as a gimmick. If you can't STAND for our flag then MOVE !

If you only use things made in America, how did you post this?

Good point. Unless someone is Amish or the like, I don't think anyone can claim to only use American made products. :)

Most companies plastic is made in china…… most seem to give that a pass when taking a stand based on origin of manufacturer.

For me it is based on looks, colors, xouts available, and overseas stuff available.

I was deployed in Okinawa till last april. I was so excited to get an overseas piece. Everything overseas where I was, was either motiv or storm. I had a chance at most of the overseas codes but needed a weaker piece so I ended up with a hyroad live. Still sad I didn’t get a gate or code in hindsight though

The OP asked the question of what inclined me to buy one product over another. My answer didn't suggest I only buy from the USA but if I have a choice I will.

Ebay, pricey but lots of options

If we're disregarding performance. I look at color because some multi-color balls just look too damn ugly rolling down the lane for my eyes to take it. I also tend to tip the hat for the companies that have stuck it out to keep production in the states.

For reasons to purchase a ball, we have:
-Colors

-Naming
-Where the product is made

Nobody has mentioned it yet ;) I was waiting for someone to say, "If the next Storm ball smells good. I buy it!"

a few years ago I was visiting my PSO, getting something (or 2) drilled when this younger (20s) guy and his GF walked in. he was joining his first league and wanted a his first ball before hand. Once they realized that storm had fragrances, that is how he chose the ball.
I remember this for 2 reasons; it was funny watching him leaning over each to smell them and the bought the same ball I was getting drilled, the street rod pearl.
so, the smells do sometimes sell the ball!

Track just got me with the remake gimmick. Fond memories of my Heat back in the day which lo and behold was already the first remake. Snagged the last, second remake I could find on clearance for reasons I guess. Oh well love how smooth that ball looks in ball videos and wanted at least one Track ball.
