I've been using tucked pinky for 2 years now, and for me it gives me slightly more revs, more variety in hand positions/release types, and just a better feel.  I guess its all about what you're comfortable with.

cool, that what im aiming for, well that and more speed which im getting by getting lower to the ground and not dropping the ball.

I tucked my pinky for years and years and etc. Quit for no particular reason about 6 years or so ago. As I've gotten older I can no longer get down at the line as I used to and I stoop slightly at the foul line. This causes my release to be not exactly by my foot but a wee bit in front of me. I have been having a bit of problem getting out of the ball at the right time as well as having too much forward roll and not enough side roll. I have recently started to tuck my pinky again and with the release I just described here, it allows me to get out of the ball cleaner as well as get a lot less forward roll and more side roll on the ball as well as more revs.

yea, and one of the major things was that my coach told me was when i plant my foot (my sliding foot when it stoped) i never noticed but my foot was pointing right and not straight so that cause me to go far right, so i fixed that as well as tucked my pinky so yea its working.

I've tucked my pinky for years. I get more hook tucked. When I want a little less hook I untuck. Another adjustment I use frequently. Yes, you do develop a callous rather quickly. Russ

I might be wrong, but is tucking your pinky a blast from the past.  These days, with balls that almost hook by themselves , speed and an open hand release seem to be more beneficial; for the hook and turn (length) deprived .... ya I can see it. Less is more!

I get more revs which is a good thing, but noticed that I can not always do it. I bowl 3 leagues in 3 different houses. But in two of the houses, hooks too hard, so I have to take revs off. So I do not tuck the pinky in those houses. But it does give you a variety of hand positions. Also, if you happen to use different arm heights, then it will double those cause in each arm height you have 2 different hand positions to use...

In my situation already described above, it aids me in getting out of the ball better at the right time as well as eliminating some of the "too much" forward roll and not enough side roll that I was getting.

For me it isn't a matter of more revs, it's a matter of creating the correct tilt for my speed and angle.  Tucking allows me to tilt the axis easier, and create length on the lane and also giving me a good read on the lanes.  When the pattern is shorter, I will untuck and roll the ball more forward.  Just one of the many adjustments I use.

I've always used a semi tucked pinky. I tuck only the top of the pinky. I find that I have more control over the balls rotation you may not find this.

I do not have any callus on my knuckle as do none of my friends who tuck either. They either tuck all of their pinky or the same as me. For those of you that do your span may be too long  or pitches may be off. Your hand may be too strecthed causing the pinky to be squished on to the ball.
