Spare shooting question
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:39:15 PM »
Okay Somewhere this season I started closing my shoulders right before release when Shooting 4 pin and 7 pins consequently I miss by about 6 inches cause I can get the ball left far enough, Any ideas on how to keep my shoulders open more? any other tricks to keep the ball on line easier?

How do you onvert the left corner? I suppose you are a righty?
Two things if you use a spare ball:

a) what agroves mentioned: align your feet and your walking path towards your target, and walk towards it with a small leftward angle. Draw a line from the pin through your target to your starting position, and use this line instead of the boards. Might feel wacky at first, but helps with a staright and pointed shot (can confirm this from personal experience and success).

b) check if you keep your body upright. Sometimes one tends to steer the shot with the body, and this can cause release point problems - but if you miss the 4 or 7 to the inside (if I interpret your post correctly?), then I'd also rather think that option a) sounds more plausible.

As alternative, you might also try to tackle the left corner with your strike ball, adjusting the feet to the right and let the ball do the rest?
