Poll - Finger Tape: Vise Bio Skin or NT50Y (Wes Malott tape)
« on: December 27, 2009, 09:05:03 AM »
Hey everyone,

Just curious. I am looking to experiment with some finger tape since I do not use finger grips and I will be bowling a lot of games in the next few months to prepare for the Megabucks in Vegas.

Just looking to protect my fingers from potentially cracking after a bunch of games. Thought it would be a good precaution even though I have not had problems with my finger cracking before. I do not need tape that will help me improve with lift, I just need tape that feels neutral and will help protect my skin.

I am also open to other finger tapes from other brands, let me know if you have had experience with those as well. (Ebonite Magic Tape, Turbo Finger Tapes, Etc.)

Will the Vise NTY50 Proformance tape do the job? The one Wes Malott uses?
I am leaning more towards this tape.

I looked at the BioSkin finger tapes, but it looks like those help aid you in getting more revolutions. Also, there are two versions and one of them seems tackier than the other.

Bio Skin Ultra - http://www.viseinserts.com/bio_ultra.html

Thanks for your help in advance!

If you don't want to change your feel just for practice use skin patch.  It's not as cool as skin tape but you will have to make fingerholes bigger to use it.  It will make you change your feel and ultimately your release.

Ive tried the tape Wes Malott uses, and i use grips, i was able to still use the same size grips i always do AND the tape. I liked the feel of it and will probably buy some for my self.

Thanks a bunch for the feedback guys.

Russell, which brand skin patch were you referring to? Thanks!

Dimension21, wow so you were able to use that tape without feeling too much of a size difference ya? This feedback helps. So you don't feel any extra grip or on the flipside any type of slippage with the Wes Malott NT50Y tape?

Any others with feedback/experience?

Thanks!
Ram

I've used the tape Wes uses, the NT50 (yellow and blue are exactly the same minus color). It does increase the size of your fingers slightly but it isn't by much if you really stretch it tight (stuff is extremely stretchy).

I really didn't care for the feel of tape on my fingers as it always felt a little odd no matter how I did it, I think its just something along the lines of the tape not moving like skin.

Ram I'm referring to the bottle and patch kind...so it doesn't really matter as long as it's applied properly.

I do not use inserts so when I bowl and accesive amount of games the fingers tend to get a little tender. I went to using finger tape when I knew I would be bowling alot of games and I love it. On reactives I feel no difference in the way the ball feels (tackyness of the resin covers help create grip). On some of the plastic and urethane balls the holes can feel a litte slick but if I am using them it is dry and I don't want to rev them as much. I protects great and I can usually get nine games out of an application before it has to be changed. I have used all the brands and like them all.
