Prices: Resurfacing/Rejuvenation
« on: October 13, 2007, 01:48:44 AM »
For all of you / any of you who have access to a rejuvenator in your local proshops, what are the going rates to have a ball done?  How about a full resurfacing?  How about a Rejuvenation/Resurface combo?

I'm thinking of taking my Rejuvenator into my local shop to help increase our services offered.  Although we don't have a Haus or similar machine to resurface, we do have just about every CAB/Grit combination (except for the Trizact disks... thankfully we don't run into many "Hard" particles) along with Abralon pads and can do quite a nice job resurfacing.  I would expect the combo deal (which most likely would be recommended) to be the best seller.  My feeling is that $40 for the combo (with sales tax included) would be a "fair" price for the service.  Any opinions?

To be honest, I don't personally know any bowlers who would bother (in our local house). The "Average Joes" here just watch the ball slowly die, and then buy a new one.

I think I may be the only bowler in the house who is somewhat equipment-savy. I have set up a complete pro shop in my basement so I can do my own drilling and ball maintenance. I do not have a resurfacing machine, but I do just fine with the spinner.

In your case, I believe educating your potential clients will be the biggest selling tool. If they understand that their $40 will save them from having to buy a new ball on a semi-regular basis, the value of the service should be obvious. $40 is a fair price in my opinion.

Thanks for the input...  I'm unsure how it would work out here, honestly.  Our shop sells very, very little midrange and high-end equipment.  And honestly, I can't explain it...  Of the local "competition," one place is decent, but they drill out of their garage and are very expensive... the other place is slow as molasses..not uncommon to take a week plus to get a ball drilled and they don't bother with axis points or anything of that "vodoo talk".. they drill it up over the label with the cg kicked a little to give some extra pop on the backend .  Of the last three high-end balls that were drilled, two came from "raffles" during our state tournament.

Any who... not many people buy new equipment, so I sort of thought that it may make sense to offer this service.  Especially since I already have a rejuvenator sitting in my closet...

15.00 for oil extraction

17.00 - 20.00 depending on condition of ball and if polish is applied.

$40 to return a ball to like-new status sounds very reasonable to me.
$25 for an hour in a $1500.00 Rejuvenator is more than reasonable.
As long as those who are doing it can look up what each ball's original surface is and perform that, the purchaser has to be happy.

Many, many pro shops will see a ball came "polished" as stock; so all they do is gloss it up with whatver polish is handy and tell the buyer it has been "restored". Then they are surprised when the guy comes back to complain or worse yet, never shows his face in that shop again because he knows they did it wrong and they didn't care ....

We lowered the price of "rejuvenation" in hopes that people will do it more frequently, thus taking less time in the machine. Most balls we charge $10.  Every once in awhile we get a "gusher" that takes extra time, but no big deal.

Resurfacing goes from $10-$20 depending on how bad they are.
