Title: white tape.....brand?
Post by: xrayjay on October 22, 2014, 12:42:08 PM
I have Storm's white 1" tape and I changed them every 3 to 9 games. I used to use Ebo, Master, and Brunswick brands but it's been so long ago. I had over 500 pieces that was given to me and/or have bought and I don't like it. I give guys at leagues 50 to 75 pieces at a time just to get rid of them.

I think it was the ebonite or brunswick brand that I really liked. But I'm not sure which brand it really was, becasue it's been a total of 3 years using Storm - two years with additional year off from bowling.

What is the better white tape in the market? or are they made the same lol?

What brand do you guys use?

I've used Vise, Bowlers Tape, and Brunswicks. All appear to be the same to me and all appear to leave residue if you don't take the tape out after you're done bowling.

I've been using Master tape for quite a while now and see no reason to change. It was never sticky on the top as many other brands were during the "TROUBLE". Brickguy221 posted something similar over on BBE; so I sent him a few samples of my 3/4" white Master tape and he seems to like it.

Track-Fanatic,
My Master white tape (I don't use black at all.) doesn't seem to get tacky (glue that has to be removed with acetone) unless I leave it in for over 3 years. I recently dug a bunch of 15s out (I had been using 14s due to an injury). I don't think that 1 in 10 had the glue stick to the insert and be removed with acetone. And some have been sitting there for 5+ years.

Of course, I can't guarantee that your experience will be the same. I have both 3/4" and 1" if you'd like to try 3 or 4 pieces of each. Message me.

Just to make sure we are all talking the same thing.  White tape meaning the type that goes in back of your thumb for sizing and not the white textured tape used in front of the thumb hole....correct?

Powerhouse Premium - No Stick
Real Bowlers Tape - No Stick w/Slightly Rougher Texture

Perhaps the other stuff has improved but I doubt it.

Scott, it's the white textured tape that goes into the thumb hole, back or front, every bowlers different. I use Magic Carpet in the back side and white 1" tape on the front/thumb pad side.

Thank you sir for the kind offer. The storm tape does get sticky on top or just loose it's "feel" with my dry hands. or the adhesive don't last long. I normally change tape every 15 games or so just to get that new feel and repeatable feel when thumb exits.

I might take you up on that offer.....

I kinda thought it was textured but I am not sure all the replies here are about textured.  Personally I'd never use textured in back of the thumb hole but to each his own.  I can understand why you would use textured in the back under MC as it will build up thickness faster.  I also use 3/4" white textured in front and MC in back xrayjay.  I have 3 ViseIT sizes (ovaled on mill drill) and still adjust MC every now and then with a piece of thinner electrical 3/4" under MC.  I am finicky about thumb hole sizing.
