a bowling ball for my dad
« on: August 07, 2007, 05:03:38 AM »
im about to buy a bowling ball for my dad, he's a decent bowler with house balls, but i want to get him one of his own. my question is whether to get him a plastic ball or go up to something alittle more reactive like a power groove so if her ever wants to learn how to hook its right there for him. What do you guys think ?

thanks

I think you should start him with a inexpensive reactive ball. A Tropical Storm, Power Groove, Tornado, Vibe, Venus (or another planet ball by RG), etc.

yeah if i go reactive (which i most likely am) then im stuck between the power groove series and the tropical storm series.

You could get him something on the older side, I have seen quite a few new in box bowling balls on ebay go for pretty cheap.

Stick with mellow pearls for him, as it will be a giant step up as a bowler from plastic house balls to a reactive.

How about a Monster Slay/R, especially good for bowlers on "open bowling" torched lanes.

Great core, great cover, great ball overall, highly endorse.

The nice thing about entry-level balls is that they're available in all manner of colors.  Let him pick the coolest looking one.  The Tropicals are scented, too.  Really, it doesn't matter that much whether you get a PG or a TS (the Reactor cover on the TS is stronger than the PK17 on the PG), so let him pick the colors/scents he likes.
