Pbax Leagues
« on: April 17, 2010, 06:05:39 AM »
I have a couple of questions for those who bowl or have bowled on Pbax leagues.
Did you like it?
Did you hate it?
Would you recommend trying it?
Was it more expensive?
Can you get away with 2 decent balls (making adjustments) or 4+ arsenal necessary?

Typically bowl 2 different THS leagues in the winter.

Have only subbed twice (Pbax) in the last 2 years, and have been asked to join league (summer), just not sure if it is for me...heard good and bad about it.

What do you guys think?

Did you like it?
Yes

Did you hate it?
Absolutely not...frustrating sometimes though

Would you recommend trying it?
Absolutely. It is a good ego check along with making you learn to throw better shots along with a lot of spare shooting

Was it more expensive?
No. We bowl 6 games a night and pay $20 per night. Prize fund isn't very big, but most of us aren't there for the prize fund anyway.

Tough call. I think that a two ball arsenal is going to be a challenge. 4 balls would be a better option, but you can get by with 2 if you can change surfaces. Most of bowlers in my league bring 4 or 5 balls depending on the pattern.

Give it a try...you might end up liking it.

Re: Number of balls.  At least one of them should be plastic for spare shooting.  Seems to me inconsistent spare making is one of the biggest obstacles to over come on PBAX/Sport patterns.

+1 on this.

Also enjoyed the PBA league I bowled in.  Surprisingly the Cheetah and Viper were my toughest patterns and the Shark and Scorpion were my highest scoring patterns.  Would definitely recommend the challenge for anyone who wants to learn more about how to play the lanes.

I look forward to the summer season because it's my chance to bowl in a PBA Experience league.  In fact, I'd love to only bowl on sport patterns in all of my leagues.

Not really much for leagues here but 3 centers run king of the hills with either PBA or Kegel sport patterns

My favorite 2 patterns are Viper and Shark. Viper because I can play right straight up 5 board and as the pattern breaks down I start moving left. 2 years ago I averaged 204 for 4 weeks on the viper. I Shark because now I have to make way left and play 20-15 with a slightly more aggressive ball.

I'm looking forward to bowling this summer in the PBAx leauge on tuesday nights. I will have 4 to 5 balls with me all different.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I know it will be alot tougher, but at least it will be tough for EVERYBODY.  Still have a couple of weeks to decide. Also, have to see what I can put together as far as the right equipment goes.
