Whats your biggest bowling GRIPE?
« on: June 14, 2006, 12:35:58 PM »
What is one thing you don't like about bowling (sport itself, leagues, coverage etc)

For me, its the smoke in the alleys. I just dont like the smell of smoke (and what it does to you) and smelling like smoke when I walk out.

Yours?

My biggest gripe is that sometimes it's not always the guy who throws the ball best that ends up with the best score. At least on house shots anyway. Mistakes are not always penalized and then a lucky break on top of that is frustrating if you are throwing the ball good and not cathing breaks. In other sports like golf for example, good shots are rewarded and mistakes penalized. Yes sometimes luck does come into play.. but nearly as often.

-Yesterday a 40 handicap guy shoot at us 220 in one game and his girl with 60 handicap shoot us 160 and 170 (pairs tournament). Right now I'm still mad about this. We carry a 200 avg. so we couldn't win. Couldn't sleep about this.

I've always thought there should be a cap on how many pins a handicap bowler can get. Example, if a person is getting say 60 pins a game there a max score with handicap should not be able to exceed say 270, 50 pins shouldnt exceed 260 and so on. The formula doesnt have to be like this but you get my idea. I never liked the idea that a scratch bowler could shoot a 300 and still loose to a handicapper........
