Playing PBA patterns on VERY new, slick surface?
« on: May 15, 2007, 06:10:34 AM »
I bowl in a center with about 6 month old ProAnvilane.  Needless to say, it is still quite a slick surface, and the Chameleon ate me up last week.  Any ideas on how I should adjust to playing these tougher patterns on such a slick surface?  If I try to move out further, I get into the OOB area, at least I did on Chameleon.  Maybe play it fairly straight up 15?  Thoughts?  We play the Scorpion tonight, btw.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Have you played the Scorpion pattern yet? That will make that pattern look dry compared that that. Depends on the surface and most of the all the person laying the pattern down and stripping procedures.

brunswicks proanvilane synthetic lanes are very hard and very smooth. add a tough pba shot and you won't see as much friction as with wooden lanes or amf hpl's. don't be afraid to use bowling balls with some surface. how much ? trial and error will tell.

I've come to realize that for the most part on anything other than Cheetah I'll have to play the shot VERY straight here.  Not only is ProAnvilane very hard and slick, but the lanes aren't even broken in much to boot.  (They're still only 6 months old in this nearly brand new center.)  I had a good last game on the Scorpion when I finally moved about five boards further out with my feet and played it over the second arrow almost right at the hole.
