Need help with shoe info
« on: February 03, 2007, 10:34:33 AM »
Sorry for posting here, not enough people post in the other forum.

Im looking to get new shoes, but cant for the life of me decide what i want.

I need a shoe with a wide base, as far as i know dexters have wider soles/heels than any other company(correct me if im wrong).  On top of wanting a wide base, i HAVE to be able to change both heels & soles.

Also, i read that the tour ultras dont stop as well as dexters do.  I slide a lot more than i used to, but its still only 8" or so.  I used to use the dexter claw backwards ALL the time, on slick approaches i added the brown leather & also got it a tiny bit damp b4 each shot.  Im now down to using the old dexter grooved heel, & the s6 sole.

Is there a combination of heels/soles that would match up well for me with the tour ultras?  This is of coarse assuming that the tour ultras have as much bottom surface area as the dexters to.

Currently my top 4 choices for shoes are the SST5 comforts, the SST6 LX's, tour ultras or sport ultras, SST7s....in that order.  I like the SST7s, but im not sure i like the little rubber spot on the slide toe, with my luck i would catch it & rip out my ankle.

Any & all help would be great, i would like to be able to order these this weekend or monday so i could hopefully have them by the end of the week.

I have pairs or SST6's (2-3 years old) and Dynorooz Sport http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r7/Hogsharley/Balls006.jpg
I took some pic's so you can see the difference's. The SST's do have a wider base; http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r7/Hogsharley/Balls005-1.jpg
The dexter soles go all the way to the very edge of the shoe http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r7/Hogsharley/Balls002-1.jpg
while the Sport Ultra's sole fits inside a stitched felt edge

The trouble with the stitched edge is that you may not experience enough slide at times and if that stitching or felt gets damaged, you cannot replace the sole. Also as in the 1st shot of the 2 pairs side by side, you can see the narrowing or the toe area on the Sport Ultra. It may pinch your toes a little while the sst's have plenty of toe room. As for the LX's, SST7, Tours and SST5's I cannot help you. I only own these.

Just an observation.

I have the SST 5 Sports, love them. I ordered a couple extra soles as well, just to be on the safe side. Can't say as to the others, a friend has the SST6 LX's he likes them, but never wore them, his are to small for me, sorry.

I got a pair of Sport Ultras (dynarooz) and ended up buying a NEW felt #2 BLACK that you cut to fit from   Bowlingballsales.com  . Be sure they are the black #2 not the grey felt! You won't be disappointed, You will definately slide NOW!  handmeDN

Thx a ton Harley, that definately puts the dynos out of my list.  I didnt like the fact that the soles sit inside of that stitched felt part to begin with, but hadnt thought of the fact that if u step in something, u have to actually dry the shoe, rather than just switching to a different sole.

Now, just to figure out which set of dexters to get.

Does anyone know what the difference between the Brusnwick Classics & the SST6 LX is?

As far as i can tell, the differences r the leather(kangaroo vs not specified), & the slight shape difference in the hell.  Those r of course aside from the obvious name differences(i only put this in for some of the smartas$es, u know who u are)
