Would you change balls after the 7 or 8 in a row?
« on: February 08, 2005, 01:19:47 AM »
If you would change . . . Why?

If not . . . Why, Not?

I personally do it.
(Of course, you have to know your equipment, pretty well.)

I've done it when I'm in the zone, and carrying the house, and really focused.
I'll notice I'm tripping high 6 pins.

Weak corners, tripping 4's...yep, change it if you know your shot/equipment.

That's what the practice is for...get to know your equipment.

You either have a huge set of balls or you are an idiot if you change balls after 7 or 8 in a row. I just can't figure out which one it is. The smartest question here is from Brickguy221. How did you get the 7 or 8 in a row? Three weeks ago I started the night with three ringing ten pins in a row. I changed the angle and left the fourth ringing ten pin. I decided to get out of there and I played inside, but I had no idea of where to start. I wound up shooting 146 some 64 pins below my average at the end of the game I found the inside line that I was looking for. I shot the first nine with a light mixer shot on the right lane. I finished up on the right lane. The tenth ball on the right lane came in weak in the pocket. The lanes began to break down and I lost the light hit on that lane. I moved a board to the left and shot the first five in the third game. The sixth and seventh frame were 4 pins. I moved left again one board and went off the sheet. Why drastically change balls when it is possible that such a tiny adjustment can correct a problem.

You lost your carry, and left 4 pins.
I've changed balls on the front 6, the front 8, and the front 9, and shot 300s.
So I guess I'm an idiot...I know I don't have big balls.

I find it much easier to change balls and stay in the comfort zone, that I threw the strikes in to begin with. The first time a new teammate sees me change balls on a long string, they think I've lost it...It works for me. I know my game.
