Talk about having a hard time!!!!!!
« on: December 10, 2006, 08:06:53 PM »
Man, I could not do anything right!!! I just got back from bowling and I swear no matter what I did I could not find the pocket!!! So frustrating!!! I could not tell if the lanes where burnt or it was just nothing but carry down...I hope ya'll can help me out. This is how I started...I would line up at the middle dot and throw out to about the 5 board from the right, and my ball would not hook at all!!! Then I would look at my balls from time to time and sometimes there is oil and at times none...I first used my Black widow and nothing, so I thought that I was just "rolling out", so I switched to my Fired up and still nothing! At times I would slow down by ball speed, which keep in mind is already slow as it is, and then I started to find the pocket, but there was nothing consistant about it! I had one game where I had 4 splits by the 5th frame...What is going on...The way I was planing to solve it was getting a ball for Dry to Light conditions, maybe a Hammer Purple Vibe...can anybody shed some light...thanks, joe

Thanks for the advice...but I get passionate in alot of things I do...Really can't help it...lol...I do enjoy the sport but, I just easily get frustrated and flustered. And this isn't the first time I've had this problem at the same house. So Im just looking for some advice...and with this house they oil every 4:00 and I went at 1:00, so 3hrs till they were about to oil again.

Try to move in the approach? And maybe test if you can find a break point at around 10th board.

Our lanes were like that last night as well. My team mates moved left/right, never found the "right" line. I moved up, took 3 frames to find a spot. Strung 4 in a row, then I decided to be stupid and move right, never found it again.

Point here, not always a move left/right is the answer, for me. Some time it's up/back. You might try that, not saying it's the total fix, just a thought. I also had a timing problem, so maybe that's what helped me in moving up.

funny how that happends...When you find your spot then you try to move and if it doesn't work you try to go back and it doesn't work for you anymore
That night I had two 5-7-10 split twice in the same game!

I know, as far as last night, I'll use the excuse I was trying out the Toxic. Nit a good excuse...but it sure couldn't have been me ! lol Had to be the ball, you know how it is !

I will say I liked the new Toxic, just couldn't find the spot so we didn't have a good night but what did work was good. It'll be in the bag for when the No Mercy gets a bit much.

Many newer bowlers complain of this problem.  They can't tell the difference.

The Key here is to watch the ball's roll as it goes down the lane.

If it loses it's side rotation and goes into a forward roll early, it is burning up.  Not enough oil for the ball you're using.

If it continues with it's side rotation all the way to the pin deck with little or no movement, condition is too much oil or carrydown for the ball.

Learning to throw various lines to your breakpoint area would also be a useful tool to develop.  It can get you out of a dry condition in the track area, into other areas that may have some oil.

As Cristofori has stated, simply enjoy the nights that everything is working, and the nights when it doesn't, use it as a training experience and learn from the humbling experience.
