What would be the right adjustment?
« on: July 20, 2010, 10:27:33 AM »
You're bowling league and just following the break down like normal.  Once you get inside third arrow you're leaving 10 pins left and right.  Your ball is not transitioning correctly, most likely due to the combination of the angle you're playing and heavier oil in this part of the lane compared to outside third arrow.  You can't move back outside at all without the ball overreacting.

Is the answer as simple as finding a ball that reads friction harder?  I can't help but think that's not exactly the answer, since a ball that does that is likely to go longer, and the reason for the (most likely flat) 10 pins is the ball is probably going too long.  Am I wrong in thinking that no amount of backend is going to make up for the ball going too long?  I'm thinking the best option would be a ball that will read the lane better without sacrificing backend, if such a reaction exists.
