Title: Wut Da EFF? Broken Ball Bag Before Tourny
Post by: Ebonite BowlToWin on April 27, 2009, 12:19:11 PM
Hey guys, I just wanna share my story of how my ball bag broke unexpectedly right before a big tourney. Right Now, I carry around 6-7 balls to use in tournaments, and Im pulling four of them around in a 3 ball Storm Streamline with a joey bag on it, and i carry around the rest. As I was pulling my bag up the curb to the house where the tournament was held, the handle of the bag snapped off right in front of my eyes. So i looked like an idiot dragging a broken bag and other equipment around a big house. So I'm just like what the hell? How did it break? I'm 13, so yea, my mom bought me another bag. But i bowled respectfully well in the tournament, I'm only a 180 average bowler, and in the 3 game tournament, i ended up shooting a 667 series, even with my handicap, i still didn't stand a chance because of the crapload of sandbaggers. I just wanted to share my story.

Pics of my Bag:

Too bad about the bag, but don't throw it out yet!  Contact Storm and they will probably send you a new handle assembly for free!  They are really good about replacing stuff.

7 balls at 13 years old?
holy fack man.
if i were you i'd stick with 3 or 4 and a spare ball, you'd understand your equipment a lot more this way also.
having that many balls i'd think would make you more prone to switch balls instead of trying diff lines which is a definite way to get more experience for when you come up on the situation where you'd absolutely have to.

just my .02, not bashin' on you.

I've had that bag for over a year already, past it's warranty, It's all good now.

Thanks for your opinion, though I have even more equipment, i know when to make a ball change, I understand what ur saying though, but i do play different lines more before making a ball change, i only make a ball change when i really, really have to.

Clean your room!

Too bad, dude. That happened to my friend, as well. Except the bag was in the bed of my truck, and I kept gunnin' it and slamming on the brakes. He wasn't happy.

You could try to muster up a repair?

7 balls at the ripe old age of 13. Your parents must have some nice paying jobs to pay for all of those. I guess the recession doesn't affect us all the same way.

Umm, would your parents like to adopt me?

Try and double check on the warranty.  My Rolling Thunder has a 5 year warranty and you don't need to go through your local shop. Call Storm customer service directly, or you can email them as well.  Even though you already got a new bag to replace your old one (1 year old is not old to me), it's good to get it fixed and to have available as a spare.
My son dropped my bag out the back of my 4runner when he opened up the back without checking first. The bags shifted while I was driving, and the bag fell to the ground, breaking the handle.  I emailed Storm and they sent me a handle, but it was the telescopic pull up handle.  I contacted them again and they sent me the correct side handle, no questions asked.  Save your parents a few bucks dude!

My family isn't as rich as you think, the reason why I have accumulated and still accumulating equipment, because i've one a few balls from raffles, and as I have been gaining scholarship money my mom has been trying to buy me some equipment to keep me motivated and some other stuff, i forgot..

Storm Streamline and a Joey does not work, it leaves 1/2" at the top of the handle for your hand.  Not being a smart rear but stream line stands for stream line. I learned the hard way, if you wan't to carry four balls buy a four ball bag.

Which bag did you get?

And just my thoughts on bag situations, Totes (2 or 3 ball)> Bulky Roller bags. I love how much easier it is to take a pair of two ball totes or a two and a three (the new 3 ball tote rollers are convenient) and have an accessory bag/the detachable shoe bag/accessory bag the new three ball roller totes have. But thats just me.

I know from experience that a storm 3 ball stream line is a great 3 ball bag but if you want to carry more get a 2 or 3 ball tote. If your goal is to carry 4 or 6 balls together then get a bag for that. I love my storm 3 ball stream line but it is just that, a 3 ball bag.

For USBC I am taking a Storm 3 ball tote with accessories bags and a Storm 2 ball tote. Why overload what the bags are for?

I just recently picked up Ebonite's new 4 ball roller.

It's very compact compared to other four ball rollers I've had.

The lockdown system for the top bag is the best I've seen.

So far it's held up very well.  I'd give it a look...best bag I've owned.
