Handicap system?
« on: May 27, 2007, 09:43:21 AM »
Guys just like to ask if any of you were given handicap during league / tourney? Then what kind of point system was used and based on? Im  a bit confused here when the organiser used the "look and feel" system when giving handicap to bowlers without referring to previous league / tourney results.

" Look and Feel" system, time to bowl a different tournament. That way just leaves too many possibilities to be screwed over.

The "look and feel" system? How did that work? he just look at a bowler and say you get this much.

We use  the pretty standard system for points and hdcp. 7 point system(2+2+2+1),8 pointsystem(2+2+2+2), HDCP 90% of 230,90% of 220.

Entering averages- use last years league ave or highest book.

Maybe you should show up wearing Billy Bob teeth and throw gutter balls in practice.

"look and Feel" -
Implies he'l give you (and his friends) anything he feels like.

I've got a bridge to sell you that'll make you a rich man. You can put up your own toll booths and charge anyone whatever you like (much like that "organzer").

Other relevant quotations:

"No one went broke underestimating the intelligence of the buying public."
"A sucker and his money are soon parted."

Our Bowling Congress doesnt keep record of tourney result effectively, And since I've never joined their league they didnt know my actual average. I've only joined the private/personal organised tourney (which in fact used better handicap system. Example, they set up a borderline score = 185, If my average is 175, They would only give me a +10, If your average is more than 185, no handicap is given). Hence they used the Look and Feel system and based their judgement by looking at private/personal tourney results.

Yeah, They used it mostly on new bowlers

Yea, I agree. Its better if they say it, "Come, join the tourney, but dont win." LOL.
