Is buying a spinner worth it?
« on: February 15, 2007, 11:09:42 PM »
Is buying a spinner a good idea? I figure I can clean my balls better and resurface them when needed without paying for it so therefore I could probably maintain my balls longer and at a cheaper price.

Buddies has both the 1/2HP and 1/3HP Vertex Mold spinners.  I've read here that the 1/2HP is the better buy.

I've also heard that getting a big plastic tub to keep it in is worthwhile.  One of those 30-gallon plastic Rubbermaid containers.  Helps contain the dust and water and protects the spinner when you're not using it.

It is definetly worth getting.

I have the above set up with a rubbermaid tub and a 1/2hp spinner and it works great.

Thanks for all the feedback, I think Im definately going to make this purchase. I really want to maintain my equiptment better especially since I just got an Angular One and we all know Ebonite balls need a lot of maintainence.

I can make a few bucks on the side also. This should be a great buy. I have 5 balls right now, but looking to grab a few more an try to keep at least 7 or 8 at a time just to have a pretty stocked arsenal.

Thanks for all the help!

Yep.
I have the Vertex 1/2 HP.
I also bought a cheap utility tub from Lowes.
Makes cleaning a snap. No excuse to leave oil soaking in the ball from week to week. Then you will become obsessed with altering the covers

I just got the 1/2hp Vertex a few weeks ago. Fantastic unit. I placed it in a storage bin, approximately 16x16x24. Put that on the table, you get very little wobble and 99.8% of the mess stays in the bin. Easily portable too.

If you resurface alot, or just love to experiment, then it will pay for itself in short order.
