Wanting to put more revs on the ball? How
« on: October 13, 2009, 09:15:30 AM »
I have always been considered to be a power stroker, I would like to put more revs on the ball, anyone have any ideas.  I understand this is not an overnight fix.  What are some things to work on.  Thanks in advance

Try to get your thumb out clean and quick. Your revs will increase.

my way of practicing to get more revs

1 slow down ur swing and foorwork
2 start uncupping ur wrist earlier and at the same time slower
3 keep ur fingers in the ball

if u feel the ball weight on ur fingers then u have done it
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

When starting, hold the ball with wrist
a little soft/bent and your two top
fingers pointing towards the inside of
your body.

Pendulum arm swing.  very important.  If
you muscle your armswing, the ball will not hook
the right way.

Proper slide under center of gravity.  Important
for balance and leverage.

Keep ring/middle finger on the inside
of the ball, towards your body.

Flip a junior football underhand 10 min
a night sitting down on the edge of your bed.
This causes your fingers to be on the inside of
the ball.  The ball should go a few feet above
your head.  If you do this, you will not even
have to think about your release.

Do wrist curls 3x a week along with doing hand grip
exercises.  Do them slowly and in a controlled manner.
I do 20 wrist curls and 20 hand squeezes slowly on
each hand/side.  Do this 3x a week, and you will
not even have to think about your wrist when releasing
the ball.

Turn your thumb outward (away from body) on back swing turn back toward body just before release.

One thing to add to global900pbaexp's excellent post - good timing - both good starting approach timing and good release timing.  If you haven't read Rick Benoit's article on Timing, read it.  The correct starting timing will help prevent a forced/muscled swing.
