Help!! Gooey

I need some help. I am taking 2 balls out of retirement. I had to take the tape out of both balls. Now I have basically all of the glue from the tape still inside my thumb hole. It actually looks like tape is still in it. Here's the thing, I can't get it out.It is slimy and sticky.What could I use to clean this.Any suggestions, Thanks in advance!

acetone will take care of the gunk but be careful as it is strong enough to eat the slug material

Thanks, unfortunately, it is raining badly outside and I have an 18 month old and my wife is 6 months pregnant. Is there anything else I can use that won't smell up the whole house?

Hmm, some ball cleaners work pretty well if you just take the cap off and get a bit of it on a rag, or goo-gone works well also.

Lighter fluid----butane will do the trick.

Goof-Off or something similar. Anything that will dissolve the tape residue will smell a little bit. Go out in the garage!

Have you got any regular Isopropyl rubbing alcohol in the house? Dab the corner of a cloth towel (or even a strong paper towel) and push it down in there and rub back and forth, up and down with your finger. Takes a few minutes but it will come out.

Goo-gone, isopropyl alcohol, butane.  Sometimes things like 409 or Simply Green will do the trick.  I've never used WD-40 before.  I'll have to keep that one in mind.
