Can someone please define 'squirty' for me?

I know it when I see it, but I would like to get a consensus on definition.

For me, its when I release the ball, am watching the ball reaction, looking for a smooth path to the pocket, and instead I see a wrinkle, or double move by the ball on its way to the pocket. And that double move, may be the ball standing up slightly, and/or deviating right or left slightly before continuing to the pocket.

To me "squirty" is an unpredictable ball motion, over/under on a very tight line for example. Some balls are naturally squirty for me, but it's usually more of a ball not matching the lane.

It's funny how we all see the same thing and relate to it in a different manner! I know exactly what you mean Jessie, but I call that a "wiggle". The ball starts to hook, then skids/slides some and hooks again. Pretty much always results in something bad for me, like a washout of split.

I call it squirt when I get skid down the lane where I would normally expect a ball to start to pick roll on the particular condition I am playing on.

When a ball fishtails in the midlane, thats what I call squirt.

I think that's what I imagine as well.  You get a ball started on the path you wanted and it just squirts through the break point.

Simply put, the ball never slows down and sees the lane.

I say that it the same way but that the ball "pushes" through the break point instead of making its desired move.  You expect the ball to break and it doesn't.

Brunsnick nailed it!  +1

Usually not enough surface for the part of the lane played!

I would define 'squirty' as the breakpoint being delayed(starting a foot or 2 later) by oil carrydown
