When ever I need one, I ask my pro shop for one and he gives me one.

10 for $3.50.

Dam......$8.05 shipping

Yeah, I didn't check that.  $7.90 is the cheapest for me (usps priority).  That's $11.40 for 10 pencils.

Still, buddies is coming up as $8.57 for UPS shipping, and they won't allow me to add more than 5 to my cart, so $16.07 for 5 pencils.  Assuming they had 10 in stock and shipping remained the same, it's $43.57 for 10!

I got a handful with some pro shop equip I bought on ebay, so I haven't had to really look for a supplier.

I've tried using grease pencils, or china markers (the ones with the spiral wrap), but they don't work as well as the "bowling ball" wax marking pencils.

i assume these are for using on bowling ball logos? correct?

No, these would probably be used for putting the layout lines on a ball or just general temporary writing/marks, like the ball's weight if on a shelf.  They were probably the ones we used to use in the olden days of overhead telescores to keep score, usually white or yellow.

For the markers used for filling in logos, check out the discussions in this link.

Check your math on that...

10 pencils X $1.50 ea. = $15.00 + $8.57 shipping = $23.57

Still too expensive for 10 pencils...

You know, I thought $40+ sounded ridiculous.  Not sure what kind of math I was doing there, but good catch!
