I thought the 'cheater' balls were the ones out of the buckets of MEK or Acetone?  Or was it the one ones with the nut shell particles?

The first sticky resin balls ( excalibers) were referred to as cheater balls by a lot of power players who resented strokers for suddenly carrying enough to compete.  Also a lot of the tour guys struggled with resin until they figured out how to get deep and loft the gutter caps.

Wonder if bowlers complained about finger tip bowlers back in the day like todays bowlers complain about two handed bowlers...

Good question.  A little before me.  Going back even further when they went from 2 holes to 3.

Only 2-hole ball I remember seeing being used was about 1969-70, when Eddie Lubanski was open bowling in the center I was working in and he left his ball behind maybe out of frustration?  We examined and tested the ball because we had never seen a 2-hole ball before.  Mr Lubanski eventually came back for the ball which we had put behind the counter.

Lubanski was the last of the 2 hole players.  Old Championship Bowling from 1954 shows both Ned Day and Steve Nagy throwing 2 hole finger tip.

I miss the manual tele-scores. I don't miss the smoke rolling up in my face while keeping score.

The above ground ball returns.

I miss taking one ball to league and adjusting to what was there.

You know you're old when you get to league and just want to bowl and get out as quickly as possible. No time for all of the drama and BS that seems to be happening more and more. It's bowling, not a soap opera! Save the drama for after bowling or on your own time.

You can still take one ball to league and adjust. There are no rules against it

You know you're old when all the elite bowlers were wearing Linds Classics.

More like you know you are ancient if you knew him.
