How to attack this pattern?
« on: May 11, 2007, 09:47:20 AM »
Greetings all!

Next week I will be heading to Belgium for one of the European Tour Stops and here is the pattern they will be laying out....

http://www.paraskecup.be/2007%202nd%20Paraske%20Cup.pdf

I was wondering what you thought the way to attack this pattern would be?

20 Lane Center
Brunswick Anvilane

Ball speed 15 at the pin deck....strong tweener.....

I think I will be inside with either my Double Agent or Special Agent...falling back to a Horizon Solid or my Total NV

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

looks like a 42 foot pattern with a decent sized puddle in the middle.

about a 7:1 shot.

Should be somewhat forgiving, but definitely not like a houseshot.
You may need to play more direct in the outside buffing at first, unless you have a TON of surface to play inside.

Particle solid to start, maybe fall back on a strong pearl towards the end of the set, but that all depends upon where everyone plays, and how it breaks down.

Keep an open mind, and try not to stick to a "gameplan", make your moves based on what you see. Start straight up first arrow during practice and go from there, get an idea of what you're getting into before the scoring starts.

Just my take on the sheet you prodived.

You can learn a lot from a graph if you know how to read it...

Well at least one reply is worth it...:-)

MegaMav:

Thanks for the input!  Was thinking that would have to play a bit tight but will give the outside a go and see what happens. I usually get a chance to see the squad before me to have an idea how to attack my practice time but will not have that ability this time.

I will give the straight up first a go and then progress from there. I think we only have a few minutes practice and need to optimize it as when bowling against the big boys and girls over here, every pin counts.

Mega,

Greetings!

Just back from Belgium.  It turned out to be a very tight shot. If you were outside 10 you were dead to rights.  Even the big handers were inside for this tourney.

In the Video section you can see video's posted under EBT Videos to see where a lot of people were playing.

Unlike what The Banger Dude thinks....it was a difficult shot.  Similar to Reno this year but no where near as much room to push right that is for sure.  You had to make quality shots to score.  The thing most Yanks don't know is that there are a ton of very quality European Players over here that make almost any shot look easy.

Thanks again for the help!!!!

Mike

Even Michael Fagan's shots from deep inside werent turning up into the pocket. Watch some of the pocket hits, and watch where the ball goes into the pit.

I'd still play outside with less surface on that type of pattern.
I'd let them eat up the inside oil, keep moving deeper and deeper, and tighter and tighter, the carry percentage goes down the deeper you go on those tough shots.

I still would have taken a particle solid, and burned in a line outside, and played on an island with a reactive pearl while the rest of them duke it out for oil.

But what do I know? I wasnt there!
