Your Bowling Achievements
« on: October 03, 2007, 03:28:58 AM »
Hello all,

Just curious, can you list at least 3 achievements that you've made this year in bowling?

Listing and reflecting back on your bowling achievements is a great way to stay motivated with pursuing and achieving your goals where bowling is concerned.

Here are my 3:

1. Developing my ball arsenal: I made a significant stride in purchasing a bowling ball to further develop my arsenal. It's a great achievement given tight budget, and having a wife who cannot fully understand the finer points of bowling.

2. Bowling with my kids. I am using bowling as a way to spend time and connect with my kids. I am looking to have us join a Youth/Adult league hopefully in the Spring. This way we would have a designated time each week to do a family thing. Never know, maybe my kids will serious get into bowling.

3. Meeting new people. I've have met 3 new people at the bowling lane. Each person has helped me with ball selection, my set-up and encouragement to keep practicing.

So what are some of your accomplishments?

Billy

Taking this year as 2007 here's my list:
1) Became a USBC certified Level 1 coach
2) Started coaching the juniors again after about 10 - 12 years away from it
3) Became a USBC Bronze certified coach
4) Cashed in Women's State for the 1st time in 4 years
5) Bowling on teams where I like all the people
6) Realized I will never reach the level I hoped for, too many things wrong with my release
7) I have to be happy as a low average bowler or give it up
and has not happened yet, but soon
9) Will bowl my last WWPB this month
10) Will be starting a Bowling Club at the middle school where I teach, if all the logistics can be worked out

1.  Became a USBC Bronze level certified coach.
2.  I am bowling in two PBA leagues this year.  One is certified as a PBA league and the other uses the PBA patterns, but is not registered as a PBA league.
3.  I bowled a PBA regional in August (Scorpion) and won two sidepots out of eight qualifying games.

1. Joined a new winter league at a different bowling alley, the bowling alley we came from was full of PBA wanna-be's who had zero ability other than the fact that they can make you miserable. You can have fun when you compete you know...

2. Made a 7-10 split, this one took me 10 years... ahhh well, finally got it...

3. Average over 200, well so far, we are only 5 weeks in but right now I am at 219. I averaged 191 last winter, 198, in the summer, we switch houses and wa-la... I hit a hot streak... Well, I just have to stay focused and have a good time...

I got my second 900 last week while pre-bowling. NOW, prove that I didn't do it!

1) shot my 2nd 300 and bumped my streak to 17 strikes.

2) broke my series for 4 games (1020)

3) came in 6th in a major open tourney...

still not yet achieved..

3rd 300 -- I can sometime really feel and taste it..

an 800 series...

I guess it also helps to have some high goals..

1) Won qualifier for the US Open and crossed with Pete Weber, missed a check by 25 after going 160 150 the last two games. (that last part wasn't an accomplishment....more like a punishment)

2)Finished 27th in doubles at Nationals

3)Did not bowl over the summer or this fall (definitely makes me feel good so I'll call it an accomplishment)
