what weight is your spare ball?
« on: December 12, 2006, 07:04:50 AM »
just wondering what weight everyone's spare ball is. I am purchasing one tomorrow, and can't decide if I should go alot lighter with a 14Lb ball for more control and more speed, or go with a 1Lb drop to a 15Lb ball.

I am leaning toward the 14Lb ball because of the control you have on it, but i think it might mess up my first roll dropping 2 pounds every time i leave a ten pin or so

Lets hear what you got.

I normally throw 15#'s. My White Dot is either 13# or 14#'s and I very happy with the weight drop. It's perfect when I have to throw something fast and straight.

I don't know, it is so old a red pearl hammer from the 80's it could have started life as a 15 lbs but by now it is probably down to 14 lbs.  Only use it to shoot 6 and 10 pins or any combo involving those two.

Personally I am against changing weights.  I want my spare ball to feel the same as everything else.  I throw 16lb and my spare is 16lb.  It is comfortable to me to have it feel exactly the same as my strike ball.

I throw 15's, spare ball is 14#. Main reason, a customer traded the ball for a plug/redrill, otherwise, I'd stay with a 15.
