Two Hand Delivery
« on: September 12, 2007, 08:31:04 AM »
There is a rumor that USBC is sending the coaches information on how the two handed delivery works. I guess they feel this is going to become popular and want the coaches know how to teach it. One thing they need to do is send the coaches to school to learn it themselves.

But has anyone heard about this?

I'm sure you already know that Bowlers Journal in their current article interviewed and broke down Jason Balmontes two-handed delivery.

As well as a small article in USBC about Cassidy Schaub another two-hander.

So yes, it does seem ever more popular.

That is all I have heard/read about this subject.

I have several youth bowlers using this delivery and one, at 10 yrs old is shooting some BIG scores with it.  238 I think is his high so far and he was high average on our U14 league at 166.

As jensm stated, there is an article on the USBC web site about how to coach this type of bowler, check out this link -->> http://www.bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=13417&f=9

They wont teach 2 finger bowling simply because there is too much risk for wrist problems.  So far, there have not been any health related issues from the 2 handed method.  I have done it since 1994 and have had no ill effects from it.

I have messing around with this in practice i go from the high 290-300 rev area to at least 450 rev area. I am an old broken down guy with a bad back and knee, but even without total balance the revs you create are out of this world.

I could only imagine if i had good balance and wheels still what the younger people could do with this method. It makes me go from a power stroker to a cranker and still have the ability to shoot spares one handed like normal.

In my easy house i do not need to do this but my harder house were i struggle to even get the ball to hook i am going to try this entire games. It might be the ticket to higher numbers when for me in the harder house 199 is my normal, the easy house i am at 228.

In addition to Cary Pon's article and the piece in BJI, there is this paper that Joe Slowinski put together earlier this year. It's based on Joes observations of Jason Belmonte and Osku Palermaa.
