Youth switching to fingertip grip.
« on: December 03, 2012, 01:39:49 PM »
I am seeing a trend in my area that youth bowlers going to fingertip grip. It seems to be one guy that is pushing this concept (Not a certified coach). He sees no problem with it.

Two kids I watched this past weekend throwing fingertip. Both were shaking their hands after every throw. I wondered if this was a good idea. Both of these kids are under the age of twelve.

Is this a good idea? I understand some kids problably can throw fingertip, but is there a reccomended age for this?

i started throwing fingertip when i was 8 or 10. they are probably shaking their hand because either theyre not used to it yet or they were fitted incorrectly

If the grip is correct and the weight is correct there is no problem.  If either one is wrong there may be serious issues.  Many pro shop people are not all that great.  Then again very few certified coaches know how to drill bowling balls.
