New Equipment VS Old Equipment
« on: October 19, 2003, 03:12:49 PM »
Ok the endless debate has continued!!!!!!!

I know people think about this all the time because when some people are in a funk or jam or whatever they wanna call it, sometimes they bring out the old equipment that always seems to bring them back to where they was.

So whats the purpose of new equipment?

Well it hooks more and is more advanced to be able to out perform old stuff and carries better too.  It sometimes allows people to score better or perform better on certain conditions, which is very nice

And new stuff is somewhat cheaper too, because you have alot of Mid-Performance equipment out there that performs just as well as the Top Performance equipment does.

Whats the purpose of Old equipment?

As i found out last week, it is a good thing in certain instances.  I find myself always looking for old equipment because todays NEW equipment is too much for the conditions I tend to face in alot of the houses i bowl in.

Because they are not putting out anymore oil than what they did 3-5yrs ago before all these BIG OIL HOOKING balls came out.  So whats the point of buying one of these balls to only have it hook back at you on the lanes?  NONE

Now i myself do have a couple big hookin balls IE the X-Factor, X-Factor Reloaded.  But i only use them when i encounter a condition that is suited for them or carry down.

But i also bought a OLD BlueThunder Storm ball last week because all the new stuff is hooking too much on some of the conditions.

So the BT got a Axis Leverage drilling and worked great the first nite i used it.  731 with about 1 game of practice on the ball.   So as of now this is the first ball outa the bag.  And it is a 6yr old ball too.

But it seems like you can find more reasons to use older equipment than you can on why you should use NEW equipment.  But thats just my 2cents about it
" Lift your skirt, grab your balls and learn how to bowl "

I've got an interesting idea from reading this, i'll do a straight up test in a few weeks between my new (old to some people) EMB Pearl vs my reborn Piranha, a couple of my old school big Benders in the Blue Omega and Triton Heat might come along for the ride too(especially to see the difference in asymmetrical cores from 1995 to 2001-2002)
