I need some suggestions here:
« on: December 12, 2008, 03:40:45 PM »
OK, I'm looking for a different look. Some nights as the night goes on, or even the start of some nights, I get an over under reaction, or a squirly reaction.

I've been thinking of going to a ball, with a layout that puts the pin closer to my track, or above or right of the middle finger (right handed). I was thinking this would give a consistent reaction, and not a overeacting backend.

My question is: would I benefit from taking a stronger ball, such as a Sauce, and lay it out like that, OR something like a Vibe with that layout? I'm open to any ball, just used those two for examples. Any surfaces can always be altered too.

Any benefits for hitting power by using the "stronger" ball? Would the "weaker" ball lack power/drive at the pins?

Any input would be great. Just looking for some opinions on this.

I've found a lengthier pin to pap, and using a lower pin position on stronger equipment is a viable option. I did this with a Black Widow Bite and really like the results (it was a 5.5" x 4.5" pin below middle) and liked what I got out of it. I am not completely sure why I gave up on it but I guess its because I had other equipment cycling in.

This worked for me tbough on the overunder shots, the stronger cover did the work and the layout helped make me decide what the ball was going to do.

I've had alot of people tell me the surface would be the best start. I've got a Black Widow Bite that I might take the surface down to about 500 abralon, and see how that would work out.

I've gone to a duller surface ball before later in the night, but leaving corner pins starts to become an issue though. We'll see what happens, and maybe that'll save drilling something else up.

Symmetric cores help, as do particles or particle pearls.  Lanemasters carries several balls that fit the bill.

Taking a BWB down to 500 might be a little too much, perhaps you might want to go with a green scotchbright instead, though I think that a gray scotchbright would give you the best look.

DRILL THE BITE!!!!!!!!!  I'm telling you!  2000 abralon dry, with that layout will be exactly what you want.   Many will bow at feet when they see the amount of thunderstrikes you'll toss....

it is possible I made up that last bit up
