Title: A little rumor.
Post by: Next Level PS on September 21, 2005, 06:36:25 PM
Talking with the distibutors today, I heard Morich has  the Third biggest share of the high end market behind Storm and Brunswick. I heard Mo sells more high performance balls than Ebonite and Hammer combine. I guess that smoke and mirror show is working.

Well considering that Mo doesn't have anything other than high performance balls that doesn't come as much of a surprise to me.

This was information that was gave to the distributor from a poll that was taken. His largest market is the northeast from the as the numbers go. On the the West coast and Midwest his numbers are the weakest if I remember.

I am located in Northern VA and like I said I am one of very few that uses anything MO. If I remember correctly, Morich is out of Yorktown VA.

in the midwest, Mo products do not sell well at all.. I wouldnt be surprised to see Legends/Lane Master making their way up to that list soon.  Again, they only make high end, but still....

In my local center (central NJ), I can't go a pair of lanes without tripping over a MoRich ball. There's at least one on each pair in my 2 leagues.

What part of the Midwest? Here in MN we have a load of people throwing Morich, some Mo exclusively. Then again, it helps us when Mo steops by 1-2 times a year and sells a ton of balls, then we continue to push them over other products because they are that good. Most bowlers in our area are able to use them majority of the time too (not enough hand or enough oil to keep it on the lane). Drilling my TSA tomorrow, cant wait.

Don't feel bad..I'm in North Dakota---Fargo-- and my brother has told me that Mo does the clinic/ball sale/drill day three times a year in Northern Ky/Greater Cincinnati.
I'd like to see a poster put up with that info just to see what reaction he'd get.The pro shop I use is a Storm shop, but will order and drill any ball you want.
P.S.---I live in Hillsboro,40 miles north of Fargo, but work and bowl in Fargo.

since I open the new shop, I only get to the distributors once every two weeks and both say that Mo stuff is selling like hot cakes. TSA and SA are still top sellers in the shop. Well if you have the hot areas like Western NY, Long Island, Michgan, Chicago, parts of Ohio, Las vegas and Texas you will have some serious sales for example Lane master are making a buzz in the are while lane# is losing it.

In my league, I have a TA and am getting a Ravage.  My teammate has a Ravage.  There's a spinner using a Ravage and at least another TA.  I think 1 guy is still using a WMB and another guy who was using a WMB left town.  I think one of the women is using a polished TA.  What's that make -- 7??  Noone's using the most recent stuff as far as I know at this center.  The proshop wan't big on Mo until the TA came out, but most I talk to haven't had much success with the balls....Usually one big game then a huge drop for the rest of the night....

He has made quite a splash in Cent Tx, sold 15-20 here. Went to Austin Sunday for the YABA All Stars saw several being thrown in All Stars, walked into the pro shop and found them drilling a Weapon. Seem to be doing well here.

Don't know of ANY in IL.

All Storm, Ebonite, Hammer, Brunswick, and some Roto-Grip.

But I bet that is due to the fact that we have players from all of those companies on some sort of staff, wether it be Am staff, Regional staff, or ball programs.

On the East Coast, I would say that is posible. However, get away from the East Coast to the Midwest and Western part of the US and you will find that not to be true.

What I see are left handers throwing WMB and TA, no SA, right handers throwing TA a few SA. Have not seen a TSA in the length of time that they have been out.

Two Morich S&A's here in NC. I read about them, and bought one online. I was bowling good with it so a teammate of mine bought another S&A. Our proshop has had a S&A sitting in the display case all summer. That's OK it is my best kept secret.

Mo seems to have a strong hold where I bowl.  One teammate has a TA and Ravage.  Another has a TA.  And another has a S&A.  It's not uncommon to see them on each team.

Mo comes by every six months and works with those that want to have a ball layed out by him.  He'll be in the area on Oct 17-18, which is why we see so many.

Come anywhere on the east coast from VA to NE, you'll see a TON of mo everywhere.  Especially in the DC, Southern PA, Northern VA, all parts of Jersey and Lower NY areas.

Once the bowlers started to discover the Total Annihilation I think we had at least 6-7 300s and I think 3 800s in half a season last year. I would say there were also about 2-3 more 299s that I know about....mine included.

That's nothing. They get those kind of scores every month where I bowl with the Legends/Lanemasters balls. Mostly the NS and Yeah Baby.

Let's see in my mixed league there is only four guys averaging over 220.  Three of these guys use morich equipment, myself included.  One uses a Ravage, one uses well everything but he throws the ball up ten anyways, and I use a total shock and awe and a shock and awe.  Morich balls flat out hit. Period.  Then again I'm a morich and a storm guy, a lot of people use columbia at our house....ewww...

I throw an Onslaught, and still get people asking me what ball it is from time to time (a lot of people think it's a Slay/R or Quantum). I got it, cause it sat in the pro shop I worked in, and they dropped the price to $100. I figured I couldn't pass it up for that (got the same type of deal again...$99 for my OPTYX Illusion), so I bought it. I LOVE this ball, and would get another MO ball, but don't need one right now. A lot of people used the Pioneer back in the day (was the biggest seller in the pro shop to date if I'm not mistaken...besides plastic), but nothing else really sold. Till I got my buddy to try it out. He just moved up from youth, and dropped to 14#, so he got a TA and a Sahara. Everyone was impressed by how much better his stuff hit and rolled (seeing as he just turned 18, and everyone knew he dropped a pound). TA started selling like hot cakes outta the shop. now there's also plenty of WMB on the lanes too.

I live in Las Vegas hardly anyone using Morich out here, alittle bit at Sams Town because they actually sell a couple of them a year. Lane 1 is much bigger out this way but does not touch Big B, Ebonite, HAmmer, Columbia and Storm. Almost every shop is either Storm VIP or Ebonite/Hammer program shops, alot of it has too with Steve K at storm is from Vegas and Dave Wodka lives heres and is great rep for Ebonite/Hammer.

Big casino corporations control what brands are being sold, they own them and make the ball companies cut them better deals on rebates and promotions. Most shops stock multiple brands but really want to push they biggest profit company on you with whole walls of that brand only and other brands are all stuff together on a wall by themselves or worse the floor.

Cal bowling is forced to cut these guys better deals also just to keep there business, so the big casino properties will buy from them and not just go direct more than they already do out here.

here in the home of lane #1 (syracuse) i see a ton of the aforementioned but am starting to see more morich (especially the t.s.a.) being thrown. i think the fact that they are represented at more pro shops here has a lot to do with it. up until recently i had never seen any circle, lane masters, or visionary on pro shop shelves so only ball whores (like myself admittedly) want to try the smaller unproven companies. but i am bias now as well since trying morich i like them better than my previous favorite storm. realistically at the level of bowling i am at (rank amateur) learning how to shoot the ball better is probably still the most important thing to me. ain't gonna stop me from buying new balls however

SE VA here.  And, as expected, Morich is everywhere.  Had a WOMB drilled control, loved it, stopped hooking, baked it, big mistake.

Tried the Forward Roll drilling in the SAA, hated it.  Hit like a creampuff.  Darted and given to a fellow lefty who proceed to bowl 295 (greek chruch) the week after he bought it from me.  What I notice is people that don't turn the ball like Mo's equipment more than guys that strap it.

There's an old Onslaught rolling around in my local proshop that's about to have my name on it.

For some reason, I like the Big B just as much as Morich.

As long as they are cheap and round.
