Layout Suggestions..........
« on: April 01, 2008, 05:42:44 AM »
Awesome Hook
2 inch pin
2.7 top
Ball is for a friend. His PAP is 4-1/2 over and 3/4 up. He wants this ball
for med/heavy to Heavy oil lanes.

I was kind of thinking Pin to PAP 4-1/2 inches with a 50 degree layout and a 70 degree val layout to put the pin low. Give me your layout suggestion too.

Let me know.

Kind of hard to suggest with out knowledge of axis rotation. The first angle will add or decrese the balls axis rotation. So if the guy has little to no axis rotation you would want that angle to be bigger or vise versa for the other situation. The Pin to pap I do believe also controls forward roll and axis rotation. The longer the distance the more forward roll.

So its hard to tell someone how it should be laid out without actually knowing there axis rotation and what not.

For me if I was going with a heavy oil layout, I'd probably choose a 30 * 4 * 20 which would get the ball started earlier and into a roll sooner. But thats just my style, may or may (and probably) not match up with his style.

Low rev rate and low tracker. He's like a spinner. Throws around 14 to 15mph.

With those stats sounds like the layout you said would work well. With the longer pin to pap that will get him in a roll a little easier and the other angles being wide will help get the ball down lane with his slower ball speeds. Should be a decent layout going by what you say and what I know about it.

I would tend to go with maybe a smaller drilling angle b/c since he is almost a spinner--i would try to get the ball into a roll sooner.  JMO
