Step Above TS&A?
« on: June 30, 2006, 01:13:46 PM »
Guys, My wife has fallen in love with MoRich and would like me to get her the ball that would fit above her TS&A.Her TS&A is drilled stacked leverage, Pin above and between fingers in OOB surface. She can use this on most medium oils THS, (she doesn't have alot of hand). What would be your suggestions for a step up when she runs into more oil? Also would like suggestions for a step below the TS&A.
                                     Thanks,
                                     Mike E

The awesome hook or the seek and destroy.

My favorite 1,2 punch is an OOB TSA and a 4000 polished TSA.  For the step down, I would get another TSA and hit it with 4000 abralon and then with polish.  It clears the heads nicely and still has the patented TSA backend.  For a step up, the Awesome hook will have more overall hook on medium-heavy oil but if she hits a flood the seek and destroy will be the choice since it has particle.

The S&D may handle oil a little bit beter at the same grit than the TS&A, however, the TS&A is a VERY strong ball.  By polishing the TS&A you're obviously limiting its oil handleing capabilities, so you could conceivably get another and leave it dusty.  With the Awesome Hook that is coming out shortly you can seemingly get a similar reaction to the TS&A, but with a stronger move downlane.  If you like the reaction that the TS&A is giving your wife you can drill it the same (as they both have strong asymetric cores) and either leave it in box finish, 500 grit or take it up to a higher grit sand.  Any of these options are good.

Since the TS&A is so strong and for pretty much anyone would suffice as a heavy oil ball, i figure that your surface change is the main reason that it can't handle that heavy.  This being said another option is to dull the TS&A and get a ball for lighter, something like the Awesome Flip could work for this purpose.

To me the TSA is a stonger oiler than the Seek and Destroy despite the Seek having particle. Its hard to argue with 400 grit of goodness for oil. Now, I am not sure if the Awsome hook will be stronger or not???? According to BTM and also myself, the TSA hooks more than anything! It has a hook rating of 57 in BTM which is more than anything they have tested in the last 2 years anyway.

If the TSA is stronger than the Seek, the TSA is going to be alot stronger than the Weapon of mass.

The Seek is stronger on some conditions.  I bowl on a league that has a pool of oil inside 10 then some dry boards between 10 and 7 and more flood outside.  The TSA works great if the breakpoint falls on these boards but if I miss a hair one way or another, it slides past and washes out.  The Seek, with its particle coverstock, is more consistent in the wet dry and I can count on more hook no matter where I throw it on this condition.  But if you get on clean backends, not many balls outhook the TSA.

TSA and SA roll differently.  The SA is more angular and less forgiving that the TSA IMO.  If she likes the forgiveness of the TSA, I would get a new TSA and go 4000abralon and polish.
