Love My Morich
« on: October 27, 2004, 07:23:15 PM »
I bowled a tourney last month in Hagerstown, Md and had all kinds of trouble with over/under. Touch the dry and the ball u-turned, stay and the oil and it was 2-8-10 heaven. I went to my driller and said, "I need new stuff". I hadnt bought a brand new ball in years (yes thats plural). I had always been able to outmuscle a shot but unfortunately last month, that came to an end.

He fitted me up with 3 Morich Balls. Ravage, Total A, and the Mayhem. Last week I shot a 299 with the TA and that ball reacts wonderfully. Then I used the Mayhem at this months doubles tourney. The ball was rediculous. I used it for 6 games and then 3 more games in the stepladder Baker finals. The Morich equipment reacts 100% differently all over the lane to anything Ive thrown before.

I think the Ravage may be a touch to flippy for my liking but the way the other 2 roll---it more than makes up for it.

If I had to pick which of the small companies would be the next to become a "big" company, I'd go All-in on Morich and win with a royal flush.

Yeah the Pioneer is Mo's only weaker ball out. The company has focused on more aggressive equipment.

As far as drillings and all that wonderful stuff. I prefer not to know the specs. If I know what a ball is supposed to do and it doesnt match up---it will piss me off. Instead I tell Jimmy (Jim Tomek Jr.) what Im looking for and he matches it up according.

I do know all the pins are below the fingers. This is to stay away from my inverted track (ahh the adventures of my NOTHUMB game). I will get the specs and let you know.

Suggestions for the prospective NOTHUMBer using Morich stuff...

If he likes skid/snap, the Ravage is a monster. I absolutely love the way this ball rolls when Im playing a wider break point. It seems to create its own angle to the pocket and on shots that normally would be corners, they get a little love tap.

The Mayhem is a monster. That ball Ive played anywhere from 12 at the arrows in to 24 or 25. It is a dead hook roll monster (for me). Most NOTHUMBers dont like early roll, whereas Ive always been a fan of early roll to fight oil and over/under conditions.

The TA seems to be the best of both worlds. That being said---I think this ball is a touch weaker than what it was meant to be. Dont get me wrong it is strong and has a terrific roll. It doesnt seem to fight oil as well as maybe I thought it would.

A lot of NOTHUMBers look for skid flip just because thats the reaction they prefer---Im the opposite. I like equipment to roll early. The Ravage rolls the least like anything I normally throw. It waits a while and with the drilling its got it really stands up at the breakpoint. The other 2 are much more early rolling, especially the Mayhem. All 3 are something I needed but for someone else if they are looking for just one---it depends what they want. (and also what kind of house shot or tourney shot they bowl on)
