Awesome Revs vs. Awesome Hook
« on: April 07, 2007, 11:48:31 PM »
From what I gather both of these two balls can be classified as true oilers assuming coverstock adjustments and layout. Since both have the same core it seems to me that the essential difference is in the coverstock material. Revs = Particle  Perl...Hook = Solid reactive. So, what I seem to be lacking is an understanding how these balls truly differ in reaction. It seems to me that the shape of the hook and type of reaction is the essential difference. I'm interested in any input anyone has that has thrown these or drilled them for customers. I'm looking to possibly punch one of these up for a PBA Experience league this summer. I've chatted with a trusted friend who drills all my stuff and we both feel that the Awesome Hook would work and that the Revs would be good to with a perhaps a cover tweak. So, it really seems to come down to a preference in the look that each has and its versatility. ...any thoughts?

i have the revs and for me with my rev rate etc and
the polished surface on it i use it as a benchmark
ball becuse for me it dont hook much ,its a fairly
smooth reacting ball with nice length
not sure what it would do with a duller surface
as where i bowl it would probably roll out with
my lesser ball speed , as for the hook i have
drilled one for a customer and it has a large
arcing hook for him and so to compare them
i would have to say revs=length and arc
hook=monster arcing from oil to everywhere

thanks for the reply, that is a great start. I am a high track bowler with a moderate rev rate. I'm not a huge handed player. As I mentioned, I'm mostly interested in these because of a PBA experience league coming up this summer. I see a pretty large hole in my current aresenal. I don't really have anything that will handle oil all that well. Most of the time I'm bowling on medium condition house shots in various houses and tournaments. The flatter PBA shot with an increase in volume may present an issue with my current arsenal. We were kicking around the idea of taking the surface down on the revs as a possible alternative to the hook. But, that does not rule it out of course. We're trying to decide what is the best choice.

It's been posted on this board that at 500 grit an AR will out hook an AH by 3 to 5 boards. Supposedly that came from straight from Mo Pinel.

Fran,

The search feature only finds threads from the last 30 days so you have to go page by page to find older topics. However it's worth the time it takes as there is some great about Morich balls here.

At the same surface the Revs is at least 3 stronger than the Hook.  The Revs still will give a little more on the back, while the Hook will arc the whole lane.
