What if any current or recently discontinued balls have a reasonably similar reaction or oil handling capability as the Hercules?
Or...does anyone have video footage throwing this older ball?

Hmmm, does the coefficient of friction of the coverstock and the coefficient of restitution have any relativity to the ball's performance?
(Asked in all honesty)
or are the core's specifications all we need to research when talking about ball reactions?

A_P_K,
Check out the ball reaction of the Lanemasters Black Pearl Reactive in VideoBallreviews, in BTM's ball review, and in BJI's ballreviews. I see a vague similarity in ball reaction on an absolute scale to the Hercules.
Keep in mind, that's 'absolute', not relative performance. The Hercules was available a long time ago, in bowling ball terms.

Jeff I recall you saying the Hercules would be best suited for the medium oils of today's conditions. I haven't used mine since more or less the day I bowled 300 with it but planned on bringing it out again.
I'm looking to fill a small hole in my second shift line up, just curious if I can find video footage. I will check out the information you gave me for a comparison.

Anthony,
I BELEIVE it's similar but NOT (edited, Oops!) identical. Today's coverstocks are so much stronger than 3 - 5 years ago, in general. Ball path and ball reaction are everything.

Most houses are putting out more oil and many new oils are more viscous. At what point balls/covers become more suited to lesser amounts of frictions is problematical at best. The whole industry doesn't change at one time, but change it does.

No, In reality Charlest, the Hercules if made today, would still easily compete with ANY OTHER BALL with the same Rg & Diff. number's!
Are you saying that the core's specs are the only things governing a ball's performance?
Was that what you intended to say?

No No the cores are Different. reaction shape is way different
To get a smiliar reaction shape as Hercules you would have to go with a REVS or Ntense LevRG as far as overall hook potential you would have to look at other companies mid lines, or weaker drillings for the two balls mentioned above.

I have checked out some footage on the Revs and Finish, I'd say they are close.
My Hercules has a flippy layout and gets good length, I'm looking for a Flip video as I type this.

No I have had two Hercules each drilled the same both were benchmarks the first one I bought right when they were released I loved it I could throw it anywhere and it would make it to the pocket, I bought a new one to replace the old one two years ago and now I find myself playing tighter even on meduim conditions, can't go out as far with it doesn't read the backend like the first one did. Don't get me wrong still a great ball hits harder than most of the new stuff just lacks the pop.

How the heck are you, Jeff?

Hey good to see you Jeff, hope all is well.
Yes I had my Herc redone with a new span and a stronger layout and it is much more aggressive than before. I'd buy another one and drill it weaker but I don't use it much.

In 16 lbers i can hook you with nib hercules blem balls also an Onslaught, in 15 lbers dont have anything left.
The blems are small odd things like low tops or high tops, I have 2 hercules to choose from.
