Just ordered a S&D
« on: December 09, 2006, 10:03:25 PM »
Ive never throwed anything else than Storm, so what should i except from this ball?
And can someone suggest a good layout? I dont know my PAP, but im a high tracker with around 300+rpm and i throw the ball at around 16mph, can vary axis rotation from 10-45degrees. I want the ball work on carrydown and med-heavy oil.
Ive thought about 4-5" pin-pap, with pin under ring, and with the mb halfway between my track and pal.

Its early due to the dull particle cover, but not as early as the WMB or even the TSA or Hook due to them being 400 and 500 grit out of the box...very even roll, decent backend...

i would be carefull of pin under ring if u are a high tracker.
u might roll over the finger holes. i would check out the hammer
bowling site their drill instructions they show what is the pin safe zone
for a high tracker and low tracker

For me, the Seek is the most angular true oiler on the market. It starts early but, it doesnt stop. It can get angular on the backend and more angular than any oiler I have ever used. The vast majority of oilers I have used will not turn the corner and carry unless, you are playing a tighter line or playing up the boards. The Seek allows me to move left and wheel it if I have to. If you are used to throwing Storm, this ball on oil is going to knock your socks off if laid out correctly.

As far as a layout, you really need to firgure out your PAP. Morich balls are VERY sensative to how they are drilled and must be matched to the bowler. If drilled right, IMO they are the best balls on the market but, if drilled wrong, they become boat anchors real quick. As far as the drill you are thinking about, Based on your speed and rev rate, a low to medium axis rotation, and little tilt, I think pin under ring would not be a great idea for how you want the ball to work.  I think the Morich asymmetrical flip drilling would be the way to go based on the info you have provided.

The flip drilling, isnt that the 3 3/8" pin-pap distance? I dont like to use high flares, since they tend to roll out on me.

No, it is 4 1/2 from Pap with the pin 3 1/2 above midline to promote length and backend pop. I am not sure where the MB would be becasue, I dont know your PAP. BTW, I find the Seek very continous and it dosent rollout as easy becasue of this. I have used the 3 3/8 (2 inch above mid) by 5 1/4 MB on a Awsome Hook and it was rollout city for me. It was good for the first 50 ft though. It was just too strong of a drill for me.

Rev rate, ball speed, axis tilt, rotation, pap and the environment you bowl in are all relative in choosing a proper ball and layout. Ask your proshop to help you with these. In MHO, I would have you work on your game before moving up in equipment...
