Walter Ray's loyalty to the N'Sane?
« on: February 24, 2008, 11:07:56 PM »
OK, let me begin this by saying that this in not in any way an attempt to bash Walter Ray. The man is simply incredible on the lanes. I'm not trying to assert that I know better than he does or that I am now or ever will be as good as him or any of the guys on Tour.

Now that that's out of the way, has anyone else questioned his ball selection on the last couple of shows? Don't get me wrong, I own the N'Sane, and it's a tremendous ball, one of the best that I've put in my hands in a long time. But Walter's reaction with it, at least on TV from the lines that he's been playing, has appeared very suspect to me.

To my untrained eye, it looks like he's getting the push that he wants from the extreme outside, but the ball isn't reading early enough to get into a heavy roll on the backend to promote the carry he's used to. I would have thought that a polished original LevRg drilled for a bit of length or maybe even something like an Awesome Revs would've worked a bit better. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

"Look what happened with PA when he bowled with Track Equipment last year and he's agruably the best lefty in the game (Personally, I think it's still Parker)."

Chawk, are you saying that PA did flop was due to bad Track equipment??? Or do just that Track did not match up well with his game?

As for WRW, he looked tight and out of sync to me. Trying to throw the ball really hard, even for him. I would have loved to have seen him move inside and create more angle to the pocket, or change to a ball that got through the heads easier and continue to play down and in on the outside.

I'm saying that Track was a bad matchup for PA and I agree that Walter probably needed to move in a little bit and try to create some angle.  But it seems for some reason, he doesn't think that's the right move, becuase if he did, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, but maybe WRW was making other adjustments and we just could not see what they were.  For sure, if he had the answer to ringing nines he would have made the adjustment.

Wow, I never really expected this topic to get going for this long. There have been a lot of interesting responses, some valid and others not.

To Sports Authority and his supporters:

I thought that clearly stating my deep respect and admiration for WRW's talent and accomplishments would negate the possibility of being called out for Monday morning quarterbacking, but I guess not. Again, guys, I've bowled in something like 5-6 tour events, and I've never averaged higher than 185 for a block. I kill house shots, but who doesn't anymore? I don't claim to be great or to know even a 1/4 of what the elite players do. I simply made an observation based upon what I was seeing on the shows and the knowledge I feel I do have. With that, I wanted to see if others had opinions on the subject. If that makes me an arrogant Monday morning QB in your eyes, I'm not going to sweat it.

Still, it amazes me how some of you come on here and bash the site for being full of classless, talentless, brainless losers when all some of you do is post inflammatory statements that make you look just like those whom you mock. Get over yourselves. If you think the site sucks, don't visit it; I doubt anyone will miss you!

well now gene this topic did seem to run away did'nt it now????but bottom line is that i think he(wrw)should have moved in also.....with his hands he could of gotten a better angle out of it.but everyone knows just how stubborn us bowlers can be about doing what it takes to succeed sometimes.knowing we need to change balls or move feet or hands and deem declare that we gonna do this our way instead of what we know is better????i would hope to see wrw in this week's final round.....and then we will see how he plays the lanes this time around!!!!but in closing it's all good my fellow bowlers!!!we live and learn and receive chastisment because we love this game!!!
