morich levrg vs morich solid levrg
« on: February 13, 2010, 03:18:33 AM »
I'm looking for a good solid ball and noticed that both of these seem to be on sale right now.  What's the main difference between how these balls react?

The solid levRG is much weaker than the original.

Solid is a little weaker than than LevRG, more of Bench mark ball, LevRG is a hook monster really.

The Solid is made for more control.

Huge huge difference in the two for me. Had both drilled the same. The Solid is very even. The LevRG is early and strong. For me, easily the strongest ball I've thrown. They make a pretty good one two punch in my opinion. If you're looking to get one, I'd suggest the original. Probably one of my favorite pieces of all time, so much that I just bought another that I plan to drill weaker.

That's for the replies everyone.  Decided on the original LevRG, and discovered that 15 lbs no longer available.....now to choose 14 or 16 *smirk* Will it make too much difference either way?

GOod work, guys, he fell for it hook line and sinker. By saying the Solid was weaker, he automatically thought it was weak. Gets them every time!

Heck, the Mutant Cell and the Virtual Gravity are both "weaker" than the original LevRG!!

Haha true. I don't find much use for the LevRG on the normal houseshots. Heavy houseshot maybe, but the most use I get out of the LevRG is for harder patterns and heavier volumes. Otherwise, the Solid would be a better overall type ball.

The oil pattern the league puts down is very heavy.  Right now, I'm playing straight up the first arrow, and was looking for a ball that would work well in heavy oil.

LevRG should be fine. Mine's drilled with pin 3.75" from axis, happens to be pin up. Really have never had the need to put less than 2000 grit on it for anything. I couldn't imagine it at anything less than that. Have you ever had a Morich ball before?

depend on how oil are on the lanes but also the type of pattern. In OOB the solid is more usable.
both are great ball, remember that you can adjust the cover to your game.

On Medium oil, house shots, the Solid LevRG is a great choice.

On medium-heavy to true heavy oil, the original LevRG is the choice. It handles much more oil.

Both are solid resins (not pearl, not particle) and their coverstocks are very easy to adjust with sanding or polish, as needed or desired.
