MoRich question...
« on: November 23, 2003, 08:41:21 AM »
I was just wondering, how does Morich fare against the other small ball companies? I'm currently set on Lane 1, but I haven't gotten anything yet and I want to check out all of my options thuroughly.

How well have they done? Who loves their equipment and who doesn't. I didn't find out about MoRich until about 2 or 3 years ago. I've known about Lane 1 for a minute. One of the reasons I'm interested is (and I'm being very truthful when I say this...), is because of Mo Pinal's work. I'd just like to hear from some people who own his equiment.

Oh yeah, one more question, what does the Rich part stand for? Thanks in advance people.

I currently only have 1 MoRich in my arsenal, a Colossus, drilled with the control drilling, box finish. This has been a fantastic ball for me where the backends are flying, and some decent oil in the heads and midlane.
This is actually my 2nd Colossus! I sold my 1st one when I had to drop down in weight due to injuries. So I guess it is safe to say that I like their equipment, and plan to add more of it when my arsenal needs updating again.

I have had a few MoRich bowling balls. I have liked each one that I have owned. They are certainly not overpriced and definately not more overpriced than Lane 1. If you buy a MoRich and Lane 1 from a pro shop, you should expect to pay $30-$40 less than you would for the Lane 1.

The Rich part stands for the other owner of the company, but I cannot for the life of me remember his name.

I had a Colossus and liked it.  The only black mark against MoRich is that they don't have an entire line of equipment to base an arsenal around.  If you like to mix and match, I'd definitely recommend trying MoRich.  If you want to stay with one brand, look elsewhere.

I actually disagree with not being able to build an arsenal around MoRich.

You can go heavy-Colossus Supreme
med heavy-Colussus or Hercules
med-Onslaught
med light-labrynth
light-pioneer

And let us not forget his newest creation coming soon....the Mayhem....might just be a very good Med/Heavy or Heavy ball.

Maybe, but I think both the Labrinth (not current, but still available) and Pioneer are stronger than med/light balls.  That still only leaves you with 1 ball for each condition.  The beauty of bigger companies is that they offer several balls in each category.  Some people like solid resin while others like particle pearl....  I've only owned the Colossus, but I've bowled with people throwing the Colossus Pearl + Supreme, Hercules, and Pioneer, so I've seen them in action.

I cannot get my pioneer to move unless the lane is really fried.

I have had the Colossus, the Hercules, the Colossus pearl, the Pioneer, the Onslaught.

Labrynth......shined up and drilled 5x5 is a med light ball.

Because of your speed, polish and drilling, Excal.
I had one drilled strong, left it in box condition and was able to use it well on medium-heavy oil. Its strong midlane action made its backend very good for carry and power.

I am "playing" with a Hercules now, Drilled 5x5.5, pin over the bridge and polished it will only handle medium-light to medium. I took the polish off and returned it to its cover condition to see how it will handle medium to medium-heavy. So far, when I get near the pocket, it hits TOO HARD!

Hey people, thanks so much for all the replies! I'm a bit confused about what conditions some of the balls are designed for though. It was explained to me by one of the local pro shops who promote MoRich, that the ONslaught was a light to med. ball, the Pioneer is for dry oil, the Colossus is for med. conditons, and the Colossus pearl is for lighter oil conditions.

Could I please get some clarification on this? I need to know what each ball is designed for based on NIB specs. Thanks again.

I have a lot of balls.

Can you explain your statement with more details? Do they just not match up well for you? Do you just hate MoRich? How are they more overpriced then Lane#1?

I've been using a Colossus and the pearl Colossus lately and these Morich balls hit. I was using a Track Freak for med. condition and it was working fine. Then I brought a Colossus from a Ballreview member. The Colossus outhooks the Freak by 5 boards and it has a control drilling. The thing I like about Morich balls is there hit. I leave much less 10 pins with them. Hey give it a try.

BTW they are much cheaper then the Lane#1 balls by my area.

I have an OnSlaught, I can use it on med - med heavy oil. Its very snappy and sometimes leaves 10 pins due to the incorrect angle. I have a Hercules that I can use on med - med heavy much smoother backend. Also have a Colossus Supreme for heavy- med heavy nice even arc to the pocket with great carry. Pioneer for light to dry don't use it much. 2 original Colossus, one polished and one dull and a Minotaur. All I use is Morich and it works really good for me.

i had the laybrinth and i thought it was as good or better than my rock on. the minator is a great carrying ball mo pinnel was one of the best ball desingers for many years. he worked for most big ball companys. chances are you have thrown some of his stuff in the past. he is way a head of his time in ball makeing. all of his mo rich proudcts have a place for any bowler. e-mail him he will get back to you. he is  a great guy to talk to. a freind of mine rolled a 300 with the laybrinth when it first came out and mo sent him a shirt for the honor score. name a company that would do that.if you go to reno this year you can talk to him in person.
