Pioneer-----?
« on: October 31, 2003, 06:44:07 PM »
I picked this ball up a couple of days ago straight from Mo. I had been intrigued by the core since it was released, and he offered me a SWEET price, so I took it.

I made the mistake of not allowing Mo to lay the ball out for me. SO I am on my own. The HIGH RG and LOW DIFF tells me length----as does the core and the pearl reactive coverstock.

The ball has a 2 inch pin, and 3 oz of top. I was thinking like a 5x6 (6 being the mb from pap). Do any of you guys have a suggestion on a different layout, and can you tell me why to pick that layout?

Any info would be appreciated.......

Thanks

This ball is deceptively strong. I drilled mine with the pin next to the ring finger and the mass bias on the left side of the thumbhole (righty). The ball didn't go all that long. It got through the heads fine but then arced really strongly off the dry boards. I bought it for dry and ended up using it for mediums. It definitely needs dry to help it turn, but when it does find the dry it turns hard and shatters the pins! I was a high tracking, high speed, medium handed  bowler at the time and I really liked this ball. I would advise against an early roll mass bias placement as the core really doesn't need that much help to stand up.
Great ball!
Let us know how it goes.

King.....I know, I was silly for passing on him laying it out for me. I was at the clinic him and del are holding and there were 50 people there. Those guys were swamped.

Anyhow, my PAP location is 4 7/8 over and 3/4 of an inch up. My axis tilt is 17 degrees I believe.

I, for some reason am awesome at laying out a ball for other people, but get very skittish when it comes to doing so for myself. Since I have opened the pro shop I have drilled a few balls for myself, and with alot of success. However, I think I may start letting someone drill my stuff again. I am not sure.

Any info is greatly appreciated.
