Target weighting
« on: March 14, 2005, 04:38:03 PM »
I was talking to someone about the Shock and Awe. They said you need to have it drilled "Target Weighting" technique. What is this?Is this drilling technique just for Morich balls? Thanks!

my understanding is that target weighting a ball removes side weight and top weight at the same ratios.Mo has a certain targeted(for example target -1/4)this is based on rev rate, tilt, and ball speed. The other option you have is the pitch the weight hole which will add more flare.I have seen in my shop as i keep making the hole bigger it increases the ball reaction. You can target weight any ball. Here is another idea in symetrical ball if put the weight hole down by the thumb and target weight it you can increase the spin time  on a determinator. You can call Freddie at MORICH and can give alot more deatils about target weighting.

PS guys there is a chart that mo has on his cd that tells you how many inches from the center of grip to put the hole.

I may be wrong but....(see profile) ...my Animal has a large target hole for midlane read...it's big...and angled out....it does help/work!

Precision,

Are finger/thumb weight taken into consideration?  If there is an excess amount of either, drilling the hole straight across from center-of-grip would not help bring it back to legal.

Thanks in advance for your response.

....Without getting into detail about the theory behind "target weighing" the formula used to determine hole location after the ball has been drilled is as follows:

Why do we need to know how to do "target weighing" if we don't know the theory behind it?  We need to understand what this is supposed to accomplish in order to make an intelligent decision as to it's favorable use as a ball setup option.

MoRich Core Tech Members Only - Balance Hole Placement Chart (Updated Nov 13th)
The most effective placement for a balance hole requires removal of either top or bottom weight with respect to side weight in a correct ratio. Once located, use the proper size hole to remove the amount of desired weight.  Note -- Enlarging the diameter of the hole will decrease spin time!
