Vids of my Shock & Awe
« on: April 18, 2005, 01:40:47 PM »
I thought it would be cool to post a vid of my Shock & Awe. Critique away!

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wODgzMDgwNnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D You must have the newest Divx codec to play.

Drill pattern is 4 X 5 1/4. Here's pic of the layout: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wODM0MDU1NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D.jpg

I have been working on staying behind the ball more, but sometimes it feels like i'm going to spin it. Or I just don't clear the thumb fast enough, and hit it.

How does my arm swing look? Too low?

As far as form goes, I don't really have any good advise. But my best advise would be to fire that camera person! It was hard for me to really focus on what was going on because the camera was real shaky. I did like the music choice, and the number of shots you showed, and the fact that there were shots from different angles/ball reaction only shots. I like to see variety. Thanks for posting it!

My brother filmed it; I don't see a future for him as a cinematographer...lol

I wanted to show as many angles as possible. I'm planning on making another video, this time throwing my WMB.

Try a little more kneebend and stay just a little more behind the ball to produce a little more roll at release.  This might eliminate the hook/set or rollout that you get on a few shots.  This will also cut down on corner pins.

230, jj's a big kid...if his approach is comfortable w/ the kneebend he has...then he's ok there (pros that come to mind: Ryan Shafer; knee bend= 0!)

Oh no! ...don't ever say hook-set and rollout as if they're the same....they are totally different ... h/s = effective,... r/o = NOT effective.  All my stuff has a hook-set of modified hook-set layout...it suits my game...and depending on JJ's pap, that may be a hook-set type layout for him....

My next big thing to work on will be more knee bend. I loose my footing sometimes if I try and bend too much.

The layout on the S&A is a hook, set, explode type layout.

That explains what 230 was seeing ....and my assumptions

Don't change a thing...looked great form-wise; very classic.

Jeffrevs, there's just a tad bit of contradictory statements going on here.  In one post, jj claims to have all of this "continuous motion" through the pit.  then, it's a hook/set drilling?  Come on now, the two of you, don't spit up 230's backside and proceed to tell me that it's raining.  As far as big boys are concerned, I'm 6'00", 265 lbs and have a lot more kneebend than the average guy.  That fourth/fifth step lunge/stride to the foul line creates a LOT of ball speed while reducing fatigue on the armswing.  Granted, at the end of a 90 minute practice session and an eight game block, I'm a little pooped.  However, nothing that Aleve and some smoothies can't fix...lol!

Not really 230 ....continuation can just mean the ball doesn't stop driving..it doesn't necessarily mean to the "left" or "right" I think that's what JJ is talking about...

Look at the tape of Danny Wiseman in the Motel 6 Rolls to Riches last week during his match against Norm Duke....another hook set type-forward roll drill that continues THRU (straight thru) the deck........

230, if you look at the ball's motion it's hook, sharp break, explode. Bye-bye pins! I've had other equipment that was laid out the same way, and it was a hook/set type reaction. The S&A does have continuous motion through the pit. I need to lay off the stupid pills. You're right 230, it's not really a hook/set reaction. My mistake.

Bingo Jeffrevs! It doesn't stop driving. Sometimes it's to the left, sometimes it's to the right...lol
