Motiv is claiming that the Iron Forge is their strongest pearl symmetric bowling ball to date! This addition to the Forge line of high-performance bowling balls uses the same Detonator core but is wrapped in the successful Infusion MVP Pearl coverstock originally used on the Ripcord Velocity. This core and cover combination produces great angle on medium-heavy oil conditions. The Detonator core has a low RG and high differential which helps create more total hook along with more mid-lane traction and control. The Infusion MVP coverstock responds fast and gives a lot of angle at the backend.

A pearl Forge has been on many wish lists ever since the line first debuted. The MOTIV Iron Forge is a worthy release to fill this want, and more. The proven Detonator core (2.47 RG, .055 Differential) has been wrapped in the ultra-responsive Infusion MVP Pearl coverstock providing the mid-lane reliability of the Forge line while adding the most explosive backend reaction the medium-heavy category has seen to date.

Knowing the power and roll-heavy motion produced by the Detonator core, I wanted to put a layout on my Iron Forge that would take advantage of its mid-lane read without hampering the backend energy retained by the Infusion MVP Pearl. Out of box, this ball is an excellent first transition weapon on heavier conditions because it is strong enough to start biting through the oil early while providing a quick enough response time at the spot for those growing angles of attack. This reaction is also quite prevalent as a fresh, medium level piece that easily glides through the fronts, creates good mid-lane flare without bleeding energy, and snaps on the backend all the way through the pit. I decided to beef mine up a bit by hitting it with 2000 abralon by hand to provide sharper teeth for fresher conditions. I was pleasantly surprised by the results produced by this change. I saw my ball start to read the lane a solid three feet earlier, yet it lost none of its backend motion. Now I can start the day on my medium-heavy house shot crossing around 14 and stay in this ball for quite a way beyond fourth arrow. Such versatility from a pearl shell is not easy to come by.

Clean in the fronts. Strong mid-lane read and flare. Commanding backend motion once friction is found. The Iron Forge is truly a special piece that should have universal appeal for all styles of bowlers across many layers of oil patterns.

Core: Detonator
Type: Symmetric
Coverstock: Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive
Box Finish: 5000 LSP
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4-nr9GFaQs
Layout: 45 x 4 ½ x 70

Strengths
Infusion MVP Pearl is angular and highly responsive to friction, the 5000 grit surface allows the Iron Forge  to store everything it has for the dry back ends. Detonator core keeps the Iron Forge from getting too far down the lane before making its big move.

The back end is you will see the majority of the muscle from the Iron Forge, although Infusion MVP Pearl  doesn’t necessarily plow through the oil it take advantage of friction upon encounter.
Because Iron Forge retains energy for the back end and responds to friction very well, it’s rather useful on medium conditions and transition.

Weaknesses
The angular ball motion of Iron Forge can give bowlers over/under should they improperly attack the pattern, however breaking the cover will reduce its sensitivity overall should that be your desire.

Overall Summary
Iron Forge is the 4th installment of the Forge line created by Motiv, as its predecessors it is powered by the Detonotor core however the coverstock wrapped around it is Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive.  The Forge line is what replaced the legendary Revolt line, as the 4th Revolt was United the 4th Forge is Iron and I treated it a such.

Iron Forge is an angular weapon that will give you and angular motion from a forward roll standpoint instead of a checkmark, when I got Iron Forge into the friction earlier than what I wanted to it sat up and rolled to the left.
As much as I enjoyed Iron Forge out of box I really enjoyed the ball motion I got upon going over it with a green scotch brite, the green scotch brite slowed the angularity down just enough for me to sit on top of it and wait on it which something I  enjoy doing.

I encourage anyone in the market for a giant pearl to take a look at Iron Forge, continuation is not a gimmick it is the truth.
Your game will Thank you.
