Title: Jackal Ambush
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on February 10, 2023, 10:02:36 AM
Watch out because the Motiv Jackal Ambush brings some monster hook to the lanes! This high-performance bowling ball delivers both strength and control in heavy oil conditions. The Jackal Ambush introduces the Leverage Solid Reactive coverstock which was developed to be smooth downlane and strong in oil and is the strongest Motiv coverstock to date. This coverstock is paired with the highly successful Predator V2 core. The low RG and high differential core helps create big flare.

Continuing down the path of heavy oil domination, the Jackal Ambush is a worthy entry to continue carrying the MOTIV torch. By wrapping the legendary Predator V2 core (2.47RG, .054Diff) in the brand-new oil-eating monster Leverage Solid Reactive coverstock, finding friction when the lanes are flooded has never been easier.

Knowing the majority of the lanes I bowl on do not require ultra-strong equipment, I set my pin extremely high (for my style) to allow the Predator V2 to tumble a bit more downlane before it started its extreme flaring ability. While that only tweaks what the ball does overall a little, it was still just enough to give me versatility in how I can attack the lanes with the ball. For a reference point to test its strength, I got lined up with a 4” pin, 3000 grit sanded Sky Raptor and then threw a shot with the Ambush. I went from dead flush to dead flush, just on the other side of the head pin! The Leverage coverstock shows its teeth early while the Predator V2 keeps turning the ball over in the midlane giving fresh surface to continue biting through the oil. While the backend motion is not going to wow anybody, thanks to the energy bleed from foul line to break point, the continuation off the spot is impressive for something so roll heavy. Even when opening the lane a little bit through the first transition, the ability of the Ambush to still get through the pocket and hit the 8-pin is impressive. Keep in mind, this ball loves oil, so once those heads start to disappear and angles have to become steeper, have that next ball down, such as the Mythic Jackal, Sky Raptor, or Iron Forge, on hot standby.

Sheer strength is what the Jackal Ambush brings to anyone’s arsenal. If you need an apex predator in your bag to fight through heavy oil conditions, this is your beast of choice.

Strengths
Jackal Ambush provides a efficient reaction at the breakpoint for it being such a dull ball, at 1000 grit sanded the Leverage Solid Reactive coverstock gives it the traction needed on heavier patterns.
Jackal Ambush has impressive continuation and will provide you with options to open your launch angles, its  large flare potential, aggressive coverstock, and box finish to assist you creating area.
Jackal Ambush is user friendly to a variety of styles giving you strong continuation and heavy traction ball motion.

Weaknesses
Jackal Ambush needs oil, as the pattern fades it will force you to oil chase and force feeding it into the pattern is ill advised. Drier patterns are not considered to be favorable to Jackal Ambush.

Overall Summary
Jackal Ambush is a snow tire and should be used and treated as such, I’m a huge fan of snow tires because of the traction it provides and how quickly I can destroy a patten.  I have had multiple successes using Jackal Ambush in league as long as I was willing to chase to oil and willing to open my angles, if I was not willing to do that my only option was to ball down because Leverage Solid Reactive is just that big. I believe everyone needs a snow tire in their arsenal and Jackal Ambush does not disappoint, Ambush your opponents without regret or warning.

Your game will thank you for it.

Likes: Jackal Ambush has an incredibly early footprint on the lanes. With its 1000 grit Leverage Solid reactive coverstock the Jackal Ambush reads the lane much earlier than any ball in our current lineup. Jackal Ambush has the Predator V2 core. This core is a strong asymmetrical core that has exceptionally low RG at 2.47, high flare potential with a differential at 0.054, and an intermediate differential of 0.015.

Dislikes: Jackal Ambush is intended for heavier and longer oil patterns. Light oil or patterns with lower oil volumes that open quickly are not good for this ball.

Overall Summary: Jackal Ambush is a big and aggressive piece in MOTIV’s bowling ball lineup. When you need something to read a very heavy and long pattern. This ball is it! The traction this ball provides, and the movement that the core produces makes this one of the best balls for tougher flatter conditions. For the league bowlers that like big aggressive bowling balls you will feel at home with this piece. The bowlers with houses with less than desirable oil conditions, I would suggest you change the cover from 1000 grit to 4000 grit. I have witnessed this ball looking good in these conditions with 1500 grit and polished. So do not be afraid to experiment with the cover to fine tune it to your needs.
