Title: Jackal Rising
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on December 08, 2017, 05:07:01 PM
Rise to success with the strong Motiv Jackal Rising! This ball was designed to be stronger than it's predecessor and is ideal for bowlers who throw the ball fast but still want big hook on heavy oil. This bowling ball also offers a smooth motion which is good for bowlers who need to blend over/under situations. This powerful bowling ball introduces a new coverstock, the Coercion HV2 (High Volume 2nd Edition). This cover offers more friction when rolling down the lane. The Jackal Rising is finished with a 2000 Grit LSS pad which helps to maximize the ball's hook potential. This cover and finish combo develop traction when facing oil yet still finishes with awesome power. This ball has more differential with an asymmetric core that will assist bowlers in getting their ball across more boards even on heavy oil conditions.

Color: Black/Emerald Solid
Coverstock: Coercion HV2 Reactive
Core: Predator V3
Finish: 2000 Grit Laser Scan Sanded
RG: 2.47**
Differential: 0.055**
** RG and Diff are based off of 15 lb. balls
Recommended Lane Condition: Heavy Oil

Excerpt:
The Motiv Jackal Rising is a strong addition to the line up. It fits exactly as Motiv says. If you were a fan of the very rolly Revolt Havoc and you still have it, this is a great step up in terms of roll shape. Everyone found something they really liked about this ball. I found it superb on the longer sport pattern. Greg found it very effective on house. Sean had it working everywhere. He rarely looks at strong solids but this one has him rethinking this as a compliment to the Trident Quest and other strong asym pearls.

This ball hooks a ton, but it very controllable.  In my ball reaction video, I compare the Jackal Rising to 8 other current balls in the MOTIV line-up on the USBC Blue 42ft. oil pattern.  If you have a couple of minutes, take a look!

Hello guys! This time I had the opportunity to try the newest Motiv release, the Jackal Rising.

I had the chance to try this ball on our fresh house shot pattern and the Jackal Rising is definitely one of the strongest balls I have ever thrown. I had to play deeper than usual to keep the ball in the pocket. I had to play close to the third arrow and a breakpoint out of 8.

The Jackal Rising offers a strong midlane read and a smooth and predictable motion down the lane. It is very, very strong. Most of my misses outside ended up hitting the pocket almost every time, with a great carry percentage. Later in the session I started leaving some flat corner pins, so I had to move even deeper to keep carrying. Misses inside weren’t as forgiving, the coverstock and core combination is so strong that most of the times the ball was going sideways as soon as the Rising hit the friction. I liked the fact of how this ball was able to blend the pattern, the ball was never unpredictable or hard to read, and it made it hard for me to miss the pocket, even on my bad shots.

I compared the Jackal Rising with the Jackal Ghost and the Forza SS.

The Jackal Ghost has less hook potential than the Jackal Rising. The Ghost is a tad cleaner and it has a faster response to friction than the Rising. Overall, it is weaker than the Rising.

The Forza SS has a similar motion than the Rising, but it is weaker overall. The Forza SS covers less boards and it is smoother down the lane. It is a perfect step down from the Rising once it starts hooking too much or producing too much friction.

Being a low rev bowler, balls like the Jackal Rising makes me feel like one of the big guys playing parts of the lane that I could never play with weaker equipment. The Rising will be a great option for low rev and speed dominant bowlers on a different variety of conditions. The Jackal Rising will be a great option to use on fresh oil and on house patterns with heavier volumes of oil.

The Rising is definitely more versatile than I thought. I have used this ball in two different bowling centers with different volumes of oil and the ball delivered. Since I am a left handed I was able to use the Jackal Rising all night, but I had to move in after every game to keep the ball in play.
I hate clichés and those things bowling companies use to describe their products. Phrases like “Hits like a truck”, “unbelievable continuation” or “this ball is a must have”, etc, etc. But with the Jackal Rising I have to use one of those clichés to describe the ball and it is CONTINUATION.

As you can see on the video, the ball never quits. I can miss my target left and the ball never seems to lose energy, I am honestly impressed on how this ball stores so much energy for the breakpoint. Considering how strong the cover and the core are, plus the out of the box finish (2000 LSS) it is really impressive to see how this ball finishes though the pins.

Overall, I feel that the Jackal Rising is a great addition to the Motiv lineup. It is definitely the strongest Jackal ever produced and a great option for a lot of bowling styles. This ball will be a great option to use on a different variety of conditions. It will be the ball to go when you are facing heavy volumes of oil, a great weapon to use on a fresh house shots where you need to blend the pattern and it will also be a great option on flat patterns where you need to control the breakpoint.

If you liked the Jackal Ghost, then the Jackal Rising is a must for you. The Rising fits exactly where Motiv placed it on the Ball Guide. It is the strongest ball Motiv has ever made and it will fit into a lot of bowling styles.

Thank you for watching!

Review:
The old saying a legend never dies, therefore the legend has returned in the new Jackal. The Jackal Rising is by far the strongest Jackal to date and the pins won’t stand a chance. The Jackal Rising brings together the new Coercion HV2 (High Volume 2nd Edition) cover stock and the Predator V3 core. This combo gives the Jackal Rising more friction and traction through the oil and then finishes with impressive power MOTIV will live to have. If you want a ball that just flat out hooks but still finish the Jackal Rising will be for you.

Weight Block:       Predator V3
Cover Stock:         Coercion HV2 Reactive
Finish:                   2000 Grit Laser Scan Sanded

Comments:
All I can say is wow. I loved the Jackal Ghost and was always my go to ball when conditions got weird and one of the few asymmetricals I had confidence to throw on all conditions, but the Rising is something better. What I love about the Jackal Rising is this will give a little more hook down lane and with my high rev rate I can play multiple angles with it and still have the confidence to knock 10 pins down. Higher rev players will love this as well and be the go to ball on heavier, flatter patterns. Medium to lower rev payer will love this ball because the Jackal Rising will be that ball that you can get out of your comfort zone but still have the confidence to get high scores.

Likes: More friction down lane; early, smooth motion; impressive power through the pins
Dislikes: None.

I recommend the MOTIV Jackal Rising to all types of bowlers.

This ball is the newest introduction into the Jackal line of bowling balls. The MOTIV Jackal Rising features the new Coercion HV2 coverstock combined with the Predator V3 core. It's strong in the front of the lane, but yet smooth enough through it that the ball does not burn up. It reads the mid lane for change of direction and retains enough energy for great continuation through the pins.

It will be a great fit in your bag on medium to heavy oil. I have the used Rising on everything from high to medium volume sports patterns, as well as on your typical house shots. It’s strong and continuous enough to handle the sports patterns and blends out the house patterns like nothing I've ever thrown.

My Jackal Rising is laid out pin up above my ringer finger, CG slightly shifted right and extra hole down. Since this ball's release it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This ball is so SMOOTH that it allows me to keep my angles closed and play up the lane.  As the lanes open up its not afraid to come around the corner.  Another winning BIG ball in the MOTIV LINE.

What was once a Ghost is now Rising to the living. The Jackal Rising is the next evolution of the Jackal line. The new Coercion HV2 coverstock (finished at 2000LSS) is more controlled off of the downlane spot than the Ghost which is created by its sharper teeth; this allows it to grip the midlane sooner. The Predator V3 core (2.47RG, .055Diff) has more intermediate differential than the Predator V2; this makes the ball rev up even more, creating more flare and more motion potential. Boasting these two new innovations, this ball is meant to tackle the heaviest of oil conditions. Out of the box mine showed how early it could hook yet it still did not lose the line-characteristic of superior drive through the pins. I saw early read in the mids, a controlled motion at the breakpoint, and devastating motion into the pit. For my typical house shot it was a bit strong so I polished it up while leaving the grit untouched. This gave me a bit more length through the heads yet retained a similar overall motion. Even with the slightly increased breakpoint angle due to the retained energy I never felt like the Rising was going to do anything unpredictable. For me this ball is best utilized early where there is plenty of oil and my angles are straighter. Once I start opening up the transition to the Trident Quest is almost seamless. If a heavy oil buster is what you need, the Rising is a great option.

Likes: Very smooth through the front, Very smooth shape

Dislikes: I have to slow the ball down to get it into a roll

My initial impression of this ball was not good. I'm coming back to modify my original review. I initially had the ball plugged and redrilled with less than 20 games on it. I didn't get any reaction out of the first drilling at 70x4x40. I redrilled 70x5x70 and got a little more motion out of it. I personally think that the Ghost and the Rising need more space between them on the ball chart. The Rising has a similar motion to an old school urethane ball, but on modern conditions. I initially bought it to replace my Ghost, but I'll have to find a different replacement. This ball will be very useful on longer sport patterns. I ultimately took this ball down to 500, brought ball speed down to 18 from 19.3, and loaded up my release. The ball is starting to hook more with more games on it. If you don't like it at first work with it a little. I did and I am not regretting it.

To put it simply, this ball is really great. It does everything as advertised, and has found its spot in my bag quite easily.

As a big fan of the Ghost, I'm not super surprised that I love the Rising. In my video, you'll see how much smoother the Rising is off of the spot than the Ghost, and also how much stronger it is. The Rising is a full zone stronger than the Ghost. I had to move 5 right (as a righty) off of the Rising line to find the pocket with the Ghost, and an additional 4 right to carry.

I find myself throwing this ball any time I need to control the backend, such as harder patterns, and on higher volume house shots. If you're looking for the next big ball in your bag, do yourself a favor and drill one of these!

 Review:
The new Motiv Jackal Rising is the most aggressive ball in the Motiv line. As much as I like the Ghost, the Rising is all that and more.  The way the ball handles oil and covers boards is very impressive. My teammates say the Rising makes a low rev player like me look like I have a lot of hand.  The Jackal Rising gives me much more confidence when I hit heavy oil. When you trust a ball to come back it is easy to make a good shot. I have tested this ball on a variety of conditions and if there is oil you will not be disappointed.  One thing I noticed is how this ball seems to stand up and drive through the pins. The carry of the Rising is very good for an early rolling ball. I have a lower rev rate and high ball speed and the shot we did the video on was a heavy oiled, modified house pattern. The Rising had early read but saved energy for an angular back end. I know this ball designed to be smooth but I have 3 now, and they all finish with a nice backend move.  The hit and carry is better than my Ghost and that is not an easy task to achieve. I have polished this ball and it tunes easily, but the customer I polished it for is from another center so I did not see it roll. I did sand down a Rising for one of my better bowlers and we saw an earlier red, 3-4 more boards overall and no loss of carry. Motiv has a hit with this upgraded cover.  If you are looking for a heavy oil ball or bowl on thick sport conditions the Jackal Rising is a must have. The Rising is my best selling ball by far right now in the shop.

Summary:
The Rising Combines a new super strong cover with a strong core for max hook.
This ball is a must have for oil.
The Rising starts early but retains energy for plenty of hit.
If you like to swing the ball or bowl on a flood this is your ball.

RG: 2.47
Factory Finish: 2000 Grit LSS Finish
Coverstock: Coercion HV2
Core: Predator V3
Differential: 0.055
Flare Potential: 7"+
Mass Bias Diff: 0.019
Core Type: Asymmetric

The Jackal Rising is the latest solid out of Muskegon, Michigan wrapped in the Coercion HV2 coverstock and a stronger asymmetric Predator V3 core, the increase in asymmetry and a smoother cover makes it ideal weaponry for heavy patterns and wet/dry conditions.
The Rising does offer a strong quantity of strength in the mid lane accompanied by a predictable ball motion down lane, make no mistake about it the Rising is very strong out of box so I would keep in mind how you intend to lay it out.  A valuable quality about the Rising is that it blends the pattern well which makes it easy to read even in cases where  I got it to the friction too  early the ball motion was never unpredictable. Because the Rising is rather smooth it allows me to keep my angles closed and play further right longer than I would with that of the SS, and as the lanes open up it doesn’t disappoint in cornering.

Comparisons
In comparing the Jackal Rising to the Jackal Ghost in terms of hook the Rising is stronger whereas the Ghost is cleaner overall and responds quicker when it encounters friction, overall the Rising is the bigger ball between the two.  Although the Forza SS has a comparable ball motion to the Rising it isn’t stronger than the Rising overall as it covers less boards and is smoother overall down lane, I consider the SS to be an excellent step down from the Rising should it become too big for the desired pattern.

The Jackal line continues to become stronger and stronger with each addition, currently the leader of the pack is the Jackal Rising. I can close my angles and play straighter on heavier patterns and successfully blend out wet/dry patterns with minimal issue.  As a fan of the Revolt Havoc loving the Rising was second nature as the ball motion was similar in a sense of continuous roll, the difference being that the Havoc wasn’t as reasonable cornering the lane unlike the Rising. If you liked the Jackal Ghost I consider the Jackal Rising worthy of your time.  Rise up and take what is yours.

Your game will thank you for it.

Review:
The Jackal Rising is a beast. I compared my Jackal Rising to my Jackal Ghost which had a similar layout. I immediately noticed how much earlier the Rising was versus the Ghost. Not only did it begin to shape earlier, but it has a little more backend than the Ghost. For a ball of this strength, there is no energy lost going through the pins.

Likes:

Dislikes:

Summary:
This Jackal Rising flat out hooks. Along with the Jackal Ghost, this is a mean one-two combination. Especially for those that encounter longer and/or heavier oil patterns, the Jackal Rising is an absolute must-have. For other times when lanes get tighter in the midlane and/or downlane, the Jackal Rising’s strong performance will show.

Review:
Wow! To simply put it. I am very excited to throw this ball to say the least.
I started with its factory out of box finish at 2000 grit to see what the ball did first and go from there. After seeing how clean but aggressive this ball is, I decided to change the surface and scuff it lightly with a 500 pad.
This scuff allowed the ball to pick up a tad bit earlier while still retaining it's energy downlane.
Because this ball is so smooth and predicable it really allows me to play tighter angles and not give up the pocket, keep in mind however that this ball needs and loves higher volume lane conditions. The thing that most impressed me with this ball is usually with bigger balls once the front part of the lanes go away I am forced to ball down to something less aggressive. With the Jackal Rising being so clean through the fronts I am able to stay with it through the block and make minor adjustments. Something I am not able to do often. This ball is hands down the first ball on the rack when shoeing up. You will not be disappointed! Cheers to some high scores!

Review:

I drilled this ball to fit in between my pin up and pin down ghosts. It fits in perfectly in the progression. When my pin down ghost begins to lose energy at the pins as my angles in the front need to open up a bit, the pin up ghost usually reads the friction a little too soon. This Rising fills that gap in perfectly with the stable drilling I used on it.

The Jackal Rising is much more overall hook and more versatile for me than the ghosts. The Rising begins to read the lane at least 2 or 3 feet earlier than the ghosts. It is a little bit smoother than the ghosts downlane at the breakpoint though. What it results in is more overall hook because the Rising is more for an arc in shape as opposed to the slightly angular motion I get from my ghosts.
