Condition: Medium Oil

Core: Impulse™

Cover: Atomix™ SFP Reactive

Weights: 12# - 16#

Ball Color: Blue / Lime Pearl

NeoMark Color: Hot Pink Pearl / Black

Finish: 2000 Wet Sand / Power Gel® Polish

The new Primal Impulse is the first skid-flip ball from MOTIV.  It  features new Atomix SFP Reactive coverstock and the new dual-density  Impulse core.  This is an outstanding piece of equipment!  Engineered  for medium oil, the ball is very long and clean down the lane with a  fast backend transition and incredible drive through the pins. When you  want to swing the ball across the lane on a beat-up oil pattern and have  it unleash off the dry, the Primal Impulse is the ball you want in your  hand.
If the bowling industry had “Best Core Design Awards”, we believe  MOTIV’s new Impulse™ would be the slam-dunk winner!  We’re talking high  RG and dual-density on this new high performance core. It provides the  15# ball with a 2.60 RG to get you down the lane with ease and a .050  differential for track flare of 5”+.  The dual-density design maximizes  the backend reaction through complex physics we won’t get into, but the  bottom line is outstanding ball motion.
The look of this ball is crazy too!  MOTIV complimented the insane ball  performance with a color scheme that demands attention.  Hot Pink Pearl  and Black NeoMark graphics are integrated with a Blue Pearl and Lime  Pearl coverstock.  You WILL notice this ball on the lanes and on the  shelf in the pro shop.  It screams – LOOK AT ME!

COMMENTS

I got this ball because I wanted a ball that would get down the lane and have a sharper type backend reaction, it does do that, but I have had a hard time trying to control that breakpoint. Sometimes it skids too far, sometimes it breaks early. It is a great hitting ball like most Motiv stuff, but this ball may become more of a special condition ball rather than one I can use on my normal THS at the two houses I bowl at. I've tried a few different surfaces, polished and not and seemed to have settled with 3000 + Power Gel Polish. When it does get to the pocket I have great carry potential. I can't complain about the ball because it does as advertised and maybe my game isn't the best matchup for it, but I am going to keep it because I believe there's a condition out there where it's really going to shine. The colors are A-MA-ZING, I get so many people that compliment the ball color combination.

Bowler Stats-Ball Speed 17 MPH Rev Rate-App 275 Axis of Rotation-30 to 60 degrees Axis Tilt 22 degrees Right Handed

The Motive Primal Impluse is designed for medium patterns for those who like the skid/flip reaction. The core is a new design for Motiv and it works as advertised.  It pushes through the heads with ease even on semi-burnt heads, and waits to rev up on the back end.  The move to the pocket is very angular, and for someone with a higher rev rate than me, the angularity would be even sharper. The change in direction is very sudden.  As soon as the ball hits friction, it noticeably slows down and changes direction. The Impluse allows everyone to play very deep and wide angles, which is a completely different look then Motiv has ever presented.

I have successfully used the Impulse playing the track area when the shot was fresh, and as well as in tournament play when the heads have started to go.  As long as there is sufficient oil in the heads, which is less then most balls require, the ball will get down the lane and turn the corner.  It is a strong addition to tougher condition arsenals.  I look forward to throwing it at Nationals this year.

The Impluse, as with all of the recent Motiv releases, does not seem to have a surface preference as it reacted well on all bowling surfaces on which I have used it. The surface of the Thrash takes and holds changes to surface of the ball very well. The ball also holds up very well to repeated use. I had to play with the cover a little to get it to match up to my game, but once I got it matched up, it was a great piece of equipment.  Other bowlers have expressed the same experience to me.

If you use this ball as designed on medium oil patterns, it is a very effective ball. It will skate if the oil is too far down lane.

The Impluse gives Motiv a piece of equipment for Motiv believers who wanted a skid/flip ball.  I'm very colorblind but I've heard from multiple bowlers that the colors are very interesting.
