- DESCRIPTION: Plan a controlled strike against the competition with the MOTIV Recon RX1. It features the new Recon inner core and is armored with MOTIVator-X coverstock for a controlled reaction on light oil, or shorter oil patterns.
The Recon core drives the RX1 into the heat of battle. It provides a higher RG to control revs and a moderate differential to smooth out reaction down the lane. The 15# RX1 has an RG of 2.59 and a .025 diff.
The MOTIVator-X cover on the Reconâ„¢ RX1 compliments the core perfectly for attacking light oil conditions. It has a urethane-like reaction to tame friction on the lanes, yet still provides excellent recovery and hitting power.
The factory finish on the Bright Orange RX1 is 4000 wet sand with Power Gel Polish. This finish will provide easy length on light oil.

Another great ball by MOTIV. This ball is fun. I had the chance to use it yesterday on 2 different shots, the fresh THS which is USBC White #2 and the burned up THS. This ball is very clean through the heads and smooth of the dry, no jumping, just smooth.  I only made a 2-3 board change from the fresh to the burned up lanes, pretty impressive. This is a must have for short oil, burned up lanes, or high friction surfaces, the new bowler will benefit as well, especially at this price point. This ball looks great going down the lanes and will make you look great too. I did not include my lay-out as your ball driller will no what to do for you, all bowlers are not created equal.

Another great release from MOTIV!!!!

I've thrown this beauty on 3 different patterns so far, house shot, cheetah, and middle of the road.

This pearl version of the Recon is a great compliment to the orange Recon.  It allows me to play 4/5 boards right with my feet because of the polished box surface and the pearl version of the X cover.  I've punched up 2 silver recons so far.  A 5 5/8 pin up and a 3 5/8 pin down.  The pin up is more skid snap and the pin down is smoother and stronger.  Both the orange and silver recon allow me to play dry and short patterns with better success than other releases because of how easy it gets down the lane.  This silver recon gets down the lane a little further than the orange version, and is a bit more angular (because of the finish/pearl cover).
If you are looking for a ball for dry patterns, or med patterns for those of you with lots of revs, this is a must have in your bag!

I've included a short video of these awesome balls thrown on a fresh cheetah pattern.  Hope everyone enjoys!

Review for the MOTIV Recon RX1 - Pearl

Stats are in my profile.
Ball Layout:
60 x 4 1/4" x 50 pin down, p2.5 hole, box surface

Surfaces I used this ball on: DBA IQ & Anvilane Gen. 1

House #1 (DBA IQ) & House #2 (Anvilane)- I bowl 2 leagues each at these alleys and they are vastly different as to the caliber of player s you see and lines to the pocket, but the Recon Pearl has been the answer in game 3 when we are bowling a team with some guys in the same area as I. This ball is so clean through the front of the lane will retaining the characteristic high RG backend and carry. So far, 10 pins have not been a issue with this ball as one would think, as is it quite angular for me. If you own a Recon and wish you had that ball, but with about 3 ft. more in length and that great MOTIV hit and carry....this is the ball for you, or if you are looking for a great late block or dry lane ball...period!

Thanks you for reading.

The Recon Silver RX1 is another in the great line of bowling balls by Motiv made right here in the US of A. This ball features the Recon core found in the original Recon Orange and is wrapped in a very attractive, silver/grey w/black lettering MOTIVator-X coverstock. The core has a RG of 2.59 w/Diff. of .025. This core/coverstock combo is an excellent match for a medium-dry to dry condition ball!

My stats - speed 17-17.5 mph, 12* of tilt, PAP - 5" x 1/2" up. I'm a reformed old school stroker that has worked the last 5-7 yrs. making the necessary changes to be able to play 3rd & 4th arrow . . bowling is always a work in progress. I drilled mine 90x4x60 which put the pin just below my ring finger.

This ball is great for broken down patterns and/or short oil patterns!! Gives me excellent length and clean through the heads but a strong, semi-angular move off the pattern. Revs up very nicely.  You can play 15-out-to-6/7 when the TGS is broken down or straight up 5-6-7 when it is fresh and unless your house puts out a big buddle for their THS this ball will come roaring back ripping the pocket.  For more oil I just moved right & played tighter angle up front. Slowed it down alittle & this ball made a surprising move off the pattern. It had a bunch of energy left to get to the pocket. I was very pleased to see that!!

Because of its coloring, any Oakland Raider fan should get this ball just on looks alone!!  If you are in the market for this type of ball, do yourself a favor and give the Recon Silver RX1 a look!!

Right hand PAP 5 3/8 +1/4
Rev Rate 300-325
Ball Speed 15.5 pin deck

This is one great looking ball. Drilled the Silver RX1 to be smooth. The pin is in palm 1" above the mid line and the CG kicked out the the right. It would be about 40 X 5 1/2 X 85 dual angle. WT hole P2. This ball is super smooth off the friction. I drilled it like this to play the outside after everything else would react to quickly off the friction. I can play the lanes very straight thru the front. Got to use it in a sport league on Kegels Boardwalk pattern. 35 ft pattern. 2.4 to 1 ratio. I was able to play up 2-3 all night. Great ball for dry or short patterns or once the pattern opens up. With the pearl cover and box finish this ball will definitely push when it sees oil. You can see the reaction I get on a day old house shot at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu25pvfMiIg

Thanks for reading.

Well at first I was a little skeptical about this ball. I went to make my reaction video for it and was crushing the 2 pin non-stop(i'm a lefty). Well that was my mistake for trying to do the video on fresh oil THS.  I was able to throw this on the White 3 pattern for a 762 and also a broken down house shot for 750.

So now I have a great ball for short patterns or broken down patterns. With all the 12 game marathon tournaments coming up this ball is for sure staying in my bag. I can stay towards the gutter and it pushs then gives me enough angle to kick the corners out. This ball is another must have if you have to deal with broken down shots or short sport patterns. So do yourself a favor and get Motivated!

MOTIV SILVER PEARL RECON RX1

Coverstock:
The MOTIVator-Xâ„¢ reactive coverstock on the Recon RX1 compliments the core perfectly for attacking light oil conditions. It tames friction on the lanes, yet still provides excellent recovery and hitting power.

Box Finish: 4000 Wet Sand/Power Gel Polish
The factory finish on the Silver pearl RX1 is 4000 wet sand with Power Gel polish. This finish will provide excellent length on a light oil condition.

Inner Core
It provides a higher RG to control revs and a moderate differential to smooth out reaction down the lane. The RX1 has an RG of 2.59 and a .025 diff (15# ball).

The MOTIVâ„¢ Recon RX1 features the NeoMark graphic, and with all NeoMark graphics, the logo is actually part of the coverstock so it can be sanded, polished, or tuned just like any other performance ball.

Review:
The reaction from this ball is just what Motiv advertises, smooth through the fronts and midlanes then continuous in the back part of the lane. Again this ball is made for short to light oil patterns.
Compared to the Recon RX1 Orange, the Silver pearl RX1 gives you a few more feet in length because of the addition of the Power Gel Polish and pearl cover but you get the similar continuation through the the pindeck.

My recommendations is to use this ball where it shines best and that is very short patterns with very clean backends. Don’t drill this ball weak since the cover is what gets the ball down the lane not the drill pattern. Tip: Drill weight hole off the VAL to increase differential, drill weight hole on VAL to create a less aggressive motion at roll phase.

I recently drilled MOTIV's new RECON RX1 Pearl with a 45x5 3/4x45 layout.  This places the pin above my middle finger about 1/2 inch.  Reaction wise, the ball glides through the heads and doesn't begin to read until it reaches the backends.  Once the ball reaches the break point the move is very slow arcing and continuous versus being angular like the original RECON that I have with the same layout.  The pearl provides more length and is smoother off the break point allowing me to control the pocket that much more on dryer conditions.  When I took the ball to the lanes on a fresh PBA Cheetah pattern, I played across the 4 board at the arrows and used 2 as my break point with the pearl. The solid allowed me to be further left. With the original RECON I play 8 at the arrows and use 4 as the break point.  So the Pearl is about 4 boards weaker than the original for me.  This ball is a must have for bowlers looking for a smoother reaction ball to dry surfaces without creating a flippy-type reaction.

I left the Silver Pearl out of box finish.  I had a 2 inch pin and I drilled it pin down and CG kicked out.  I love this ball so much and it lets me play outside and up the boards and I love to play out there.  I am about 4 boards left with the silver compared to the Orange RX1.

Motiv has come out with another terrific ball and I am so glad to be on staff with Motiv. This ball is for short patterns and for light oil.  So if you need a ball that goes long and is even but still hits hard then the RX1 Silver Pearl is the ball for you.  GET MOTIVATED!!!!!!!!!

I drilled my RX! Silver Pearl with a lenthg/leverage layout, and love the motion this ball makes down the lane when the heads start to break down, and carry down is an issue. Being a "tweener", this ball was a bit squirty through the breakpoint with the box finish, but after lightly hitting it with 2000 Abralon, this ball gave me enough length and recovery to kick out the corner pins when the lanes started hooking earlier and nothing else in the bag stored enough energy.
Overall, this ball is a must in any arsenal for shorter patterns and when the lanes start to fry in the heads.

Coverstock-MOTIVator-X Pearl
Core-Recon
Finish-4000 wet/sand with Power Gel Polish
RG-2.59 15 lbs
RG Diff.-0.25 15lbs
Flare-2"

Ball 15lbs 2 oz. ,2.5 oz.top,with a 3'pin.
Drill Pattern-70x45 @4/12"
with a P3  weight hole,2/12" deep,with a 1 1/64' bit,

Lanes-Wood 30 years old,Anvil lanes 15 years old,Pro anvil lanes 2 years old.

The Recon core helps delay the revs, making it easier to get down lane.

The Pearl MOTIVator-X  coverstock which is wet/sanded at 4000 and polished
with MOTIV Power Gel Polish helps get this RX1 through the heads and midlane
with ease. There isn't any sign of the Recon going up at the mids. The RX1 Silver
Pearl gets about two more feet in length than the original RX1.

The Silver Pearl RX1 is a control ball. The control at the backend of the pattern is
just what you need for dry lanes. The motion down the lane is a perfect fit for
dry lanes, short sport patters, and drier side to side fresh house shots.

What the RX1 Silver pearl is not,is a oil ball.Just put it back in the back.
This ball is weak enough to put your favorite strong drilling. The stronger
drilling on such a weak ball is a perfect fit for playing from deeper inside
shots.

Overall:This RX1 is one of the best dry lane balls I have ever thrown.
If you are looking for a control ball for dry lanes, give the RX1 a shot.

Another entry level ball that just destroys the pins. I originally drilled this ball up to be a spare ball, by putting the pin on my pap, and then drilling a 4" weight hole through the pin to make it legal(Not Recommended to drill through the pin). This ball is a great spare ball and works very well for me in that department. I was surprised however to see that this ball drilled this weak is still awesome on patterns with light oil. I love how these entry level Motiv balls hit the pocket with so much power, compared to other low end stuff I have thrown in the past. This is a must have low end ball for a bowler at any level.

Motiv Recon RX1 Silver Pearl

Motiv made a winner with the Recon RX1 Silver Pearl. This ball is one of the best light oil balls that I have used. Generally, bowling balls designed for light volume oil are very hard to control with over under reactions.  The control and power this ball has well excited my expectations.  The Recon RX1 will be my weapon of choice when battling on the PBA & Kagel Short Oil Patterns.  Motiv has made a ball that will give me, and any other bowler, the opportunity to win more when the lanes get tougher.  This ball also possesses a powerful and forceful appearance, making it a great intimidator on the lanes. So Let’s Get Motivated!
