The Motiv Ripcord Velocity was designed with angle in mind. The dual-density Oblivion core was engineered to be aggressive while offering versatility on medium oil conditions. To complement the complexness of the core Motiv has paired it with the Infusion MVP Reactive Pearl coverstock. This cover offers length and unreal direction change down the lane. This ball has characteristics that are desired by speed dominant, balanced, or rev dominant bowlers. For speed dominant bowlers, the Ripcord Velocity offers more down-lane angle. For balanced bowlers, this ball gives length through the front of the lane and angle through the pins. And for the rev dominant bowler, this high-performance bowling ball produces incredible angles.

Ball layout: 50x4.5x20
Ball Speed: 17.5

Pap: 3 7/8 7/8 up
The Oblivion core has always been a favorite of mine. Starting with the Paranoia series. This core has always seemed to work well regardless of the coverstock. With MOTIV matching it up with the Infusion MVP pearl reactive this ball has been great for me on high friction surfaces. The extremely fast responding cover has really lowed me to open up my angles making this ball a perfect go to after The lanes break down and I can no longer use my Ripcord Flight. I found that the Velocity works great at its out of the box 5500 Grit. I tried taking the surface down to experiment a little bit and found my best reaction with it was at a much shinier surface. You can’t go wrong with the Velocity in your bag!

Layout:
   55 x 4 ½” x 35

Not only is the new Ripcord Velocity the snappiest iteration of this medium-oil ball line, the gold and navy color combination also make it one of the snazziest to date for MOTIV.  Improving, and strengthening, the Infusion technology that was on the Fatal Venom, the new Infusion MVP Pearl (finished at 5500 LSP) provides easy length and retains energy for an explosive backend motion. Wrapping this shell around the Oblivion core (2.53 RG, .047 Diff) further enhances the skid/snap reaction thanks to both its higher RG number as well as the flare-enhancing nature of dual density blocks.

After having my original Ripcord drilled with a 5” pin and watching it push further down lane than expected, I was hesitant to go that far again which is why I went with a ‘middle ground’ (for me) 4 ½”. After throwing the Velocity for several games, my fears were clearly misguided. This shell is an excellent fusion of strength in midlane oil and devastating backend power; this may be the flippiest ball to date I have thrown. When on the fresh I need to square up a bit since out-of-box this is meant as a medium condition enforcer, but nonetheless there is enough muscle in this ball to throw it out of the gates on most any house shot. Testing the ball on a day-after-league shot, it shone its brightest. I started out laying down 22 crossing 16 and it came flying back to leave a 9-pin. I moved a two and one and bang, another 9-pin. Several more moves later, a bit more flirting with the 9-pin, and no diminished continuation in sight, I found my line at 30-21. The length is effortless, and the backend recovery is absolutely incredible. Every time my ball got out into the dry it would make an abrupt direction change and go screaming towards the 1-3 as through it was trying to get to the 7-pin itself. As with any ball I could not let my angles get too ridiculous without seeing a diminished return, but by the time you reach that point you should either be at the end of a block or already transitioning into the next compliment down such as the Fatal Venom. If you are in need of a medium oil skid/snap weapon in your arsenal, the Ripcord Velocity perfectly fits the bill.

Being left handed, I've always been a fan of pearl covers when I need to get right and create angle at tournaments, and the new Velocity is the perfect ball to do just that. I can open my angles up with ease and get the ball through the front part of the lane without sacrificing any down lane motion.

I also see myself using this ball a lot on surfaces with higher friction, or later on league nights when there have been a couple of games bowled. This ball definitely fills a huge hole in my bag and I'm looking forward to drilling up more in the future!

The Ripcord Velocity is definitely something special. It’s one of the stronger symmetric pearls I’ve thrown. This year my favorite ball is probably been the Jackal Legacy, and I find that the Velocity is a nice step down if I want to stay in the same part of the lane and get the ball just a bit further. Also, a great ball for higher friction houses!

The Ripcord Velocity is the newest release in the Ripcord line. I’ll admit that for me, the first two in the line weren’t my favorite, but this ball is different. Even with the Pearl shiny cover, this ball still reads the middle of the lane in the correct way, and isn’t as scared of oil as you would expect a shiny Pearl symmetric ball to be. It is still at its best though, when you can move in, throw it around the pattern and throw it to the dry watch it spark off the friction and run through the rack like a Mac Truck. If you’re rev dominant, this is ABSOLUTELY a ball you can throw when you have to chase the pattern in, and have some dry to work with. All in all, this ball is GREAT for what it was designed for, and fits very well into the Motiv line.

Core: Oblivion
Type: Symmetric
Coverstock: Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive
Box Finish: 5500 Grit LSS

Layout: 45 x 4 ½ x 70
Ripcord Velocity (noun): 1. uses the Oblivion Symmetric core shape that was used previously in the Paranoia series and in the first two Ripcord balls. 2. Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive veneer is prepped with a 5500 grit polished box finish. 3. Continues the tradition of strong down lane motion allowing you to open your angles.

Strengths
Ripcord Velocity will give you a lot of its muscle up front when it encounters friction, this also allows it provide suitable back end motion for a variety oof rev rates.
Infusion MVP Pearl is what gives Ripcord Velocity length which makes it ideal fitting between Fatal Venom or other dull weaponry you may have in your arsenal.
The traction that Ripcord Velocity creates somewhat reduces its back end just enough that it fits below that of Jackal Flash and Supra, however it still provides a strong ball motion down lane.
Weaknesses
Because Ripcord Velocity has a strong roll to it as the friction increases it can become too much ball depending on the user, as the friction increases it will nudge you further away from your comfort zone.  To combat this you make want to ball down or move your breakpoint.
Overall Summary
Using Ripcord Velocity on the conditions it was designed for gave me my best looks, medium oil in particular as I was able to play where I am most comfortable which is standing left and throwing right.  I had plenty of down lane recovery as Ripcord Velocity is strong off the friction, as the transition came it became a matter of projection manipulation.  I consider Ripcord Velocity an excellent choice for playing steeper angles after opening the lanes up with Forge Flare or Jackal Legacy, to an extent I had success on heavier patterns taking advantage of the heavy roll. Smaller rev rates will find Ripcord Velocity useful in regard to the strong ball motion it provides down lane, out of box it is cleaner than both Forge Flare and Jackal Legacy but will change direction just as hard down lane.

If you’ve never got the change to try to Ripcord or Ripcord Flight I encourage you to take a look at Ripcord Velocity.

Your game will Thank you.
