Description: The Tribal is the second release using the Fusion Pearl Reactive Coverstock, previously used on the Primal Rage (#Redball). The Tribal incorporates the all new Halogen Light Bulb Core. You will find the motion of the Tribal to offer a great look in the medium to light oil category.
Reaction: The intention of the Tribal is for late blocks and short patterns, but I have found that it has even more potential. With the previous release of the very popular Primal Rage, MOTIV has now added some balls that transition very fast downlane! Because the ball is so clean it has allowed me to play some straighter angles on patterns that do not require me to throw left to right. So far in my efforts playing straighter it has looked great when I’m looking for something to transition a little faster downlane. Of course the majority of shots so far have been deeper on the lane and there is no doubt that is where this ball thrives. So far it has reacted very well to several patterns and it’s always a bonus when a ball is useable for more than what it is originally intended for.
Comparisons: Comparing it to the Primal Rage the Tribal is much cleaner, but still gives it a very similar shape in the backend! What I like most so far about the Tribal is that although the shapes are very similar between the Primal Rage and the Tribal there is a very good gap between the two where it is very beneficial to have both of them, especially if you often veer towards the center of the lane. The Tribal is also cleaner than my Venom Toxin and provides more continuation but overall they are very similar as far as hook potential.
Summary: I can say that because I tend to play straighter when I can I like this ball so much already because it allows me to play in my comfort zone sooner, yet provides a strong motion downlane for my ball speed. For some that felt that the Primal Rage may have been too much rock on your house shots, get yourself a Tribal!

Let me say that I love the Tribal and what Motiv has done combining this cover with the all-new Halogen core. It really gives you a serious skid/flip look and tons of “pop†off the friction. This ball will fill in nicely when the pattern transitions or you have a medium to light volume of oil. I call it the #redball chaser because as soon as the Rage becomes too aggressive, the Tribal is a great piece to go to. The house I bowl in tends to have a lot of friction and by the second game, my Rage has some serious left turns going on. The Tribal picks right up where I started and allows me to play the transition with control while maintaining an impressive amount of stored energy to get the corners out.
I thought this ball would be similar to the Thrash Frenzy, but for me it is cleaner up front than my Frenzy and still has the continuation through the pins that has become so common with Motiv.
Since I joined the Motiv team last year, I have been very impressed with all of the releases... and the Tribal is no exception. GET SOME FRESH INK!!!!!!!!! You won’t regret it.....

MOTIV TRIBAL --
The new Motiv Tribal is quite surprising. Utilizing the proven Primal Rage (Aka. Red Ball) cover stock and new Halogen light bulb weight block this ball provides quite amazing results. It’s very angular but much longer than its predecessor. Its ability to get through the fronts and still make the strong angular move we come to know and love with the Primal Rage makes this ball a must have. It’s a ball motion that will provide great benefit both on your typical house shot as well as many of the tougher tour patterns. The Tribal’s strong back end motion and ability to get down the lane are definite plusses when adding to your current arsenal.
I recently tested (2) of this new release –one pin above the ring finger and one pin centered below both fingers. In general for me the pin down layouts seems to perform better but obviously that is always a matter of your personal style and ball roll. In this case the pin down version versus the pin up version provided me two quite different looks. The pin down as expected was much stronger early allowing the ball to read the pattern and provide a strong angular but controlled reaction. This was a great ball down progression from my Primal Rages. The pin up version on the other hand provided me with much needed added length and strong angular motion that set the two apart. The combination of these two bring me that additional added punch when my rage is too much!
This is truly a great additional to the family…Come get Motiv-ated.

The Tribal has above average length with great recovery. Comparied to the Primal Rage the Tribal is about 4 to 6 boards longer. The condition the video was shot on was the 2013 master's pattern. The Tribal has the same high carry percentage as the Primal Rage. The colors are extremely eye catching from self appeal to watching it roll down the lane. The Tribal fits right below the Primal Rage and will be a useful option to have.

When I heard that the MOTIV’s new ball, the Tribal would have the same cover as the Primal Rage I was really excited - this time wrapped around the new Halogen core. For those bowlers that have used a ball with a light bulb shaped core, you know how versatile that traditional shape is.
I drilled my new Tribal with a 65* x 5†x 35* layout. After bowling with it the last couple of weeks, I believe that this ball is a perfect 1-2 punch with the Primal Rage. The medium RG core of the Tribal gets through the heads a little cleaner, and a little smoother off the spot than the Rage, but the continuation through the pins is just as great. This allows me to use the Tribal when the lanes break down a bit, as well as on the shorter sport patterns.
Here is a link to the ball reaction video that I did for the Tribal. I compare it to the Primal Rage, Thrash Frenzy, Venom Strike and Ascent Pearl on the Kegel’s Middle Road pattern.
The Tribal for me fits right in the sweet spot in the middle of my arsenal. On Medium volume patterns, I now can choose the Venom Strike if I want an earlier, smoother roll, or the Tribal if I need more backend to carry the corner pins. The Tribal is also a great option on longer patterns at the end of the night, when I need a ball to clear the fronts while retaining energy for the back. I have ordered a second Tribal that I’m planning on drilling with a weaker layout for dry lanes, so that I can take advantage of the versatility of the Halogen core. Looking forward to it!

The Motiv Tribal is designed for light to medium oil patterns according to Motv. The ball is as advertised and more for me. It pushes through on all but the driest heads. The ball continues to
make no attempt to read the lane until it hits the dry. Once the Tribal finds friction the slow down/change of direction is quick without being a checkmark. The Tribal then makes a strong move
that is less sudden and sharp then the Primal Rage, but a quicker transition then the other balls in the Motive line. The Tribal's make continous move at the end of the pattern and can cover a lot
of boards on some conditions. In addition, the core/cover combo, which for me is designed as a play deep piece of equipment, allows me to move right and play the ball in front of me on aptterns
where the dry part of the lane is farther right then most house shots. Getting the ball in the soup (house shot) in the middle of the lane may cause the ball to skate past the breakpoint. It will
be a great match up for me late in long format tournaments on wood as well as shots on synthetics that force you right, The Tribal lets me know when to put it away as it will start stand up too
early and leave weak corners, or fun out of energy to get back to the pocket. For me and my low rev rate, this ball can be tough on over/under because of it's quick read of the dry, and it's ease
of gliding on any volume of oil.
If you use this ball as designed, that is on medium or light oil patterns of volume or length, it will be a very effective ball. To throw it on a burnt conditions will require a healthy polish and
a longer drill pattern. With the Tribal Motiv has a piece of equipment that acts as a great arsenal builder working in conjunction with the Primal Rage.
I'm very colorblind but the Neomark Graphic makes the ball very pleasing to the eye and give it good shelf appeal.

The Tribal is the second release from MOTIV to use the Fusion Pearl Reactive coverstock. The Primal Rage was the first. And in the center of this coverstock is the all new Halogen Light Bulb core. This is the first light bulb cover ever from MOTIV. And I must say, long awaited for me.
The Tribal reaction is a great complement to the Primal Rage.The Tribal works great when the Primal Rage is picking up friction too early.This is where the Tribal got down the lane without burning up early,thus saving energy for the area of the lane that is needed.When it got down the lane,to the breakpoint,it created a better angle than the Primal Rage and with better entry angle.
The Tribal gave me almost the same shape as the Primal Rage,but with more length,and it isn’t as fast to response to the friction at the breakpoint.Thus ,creating better carry on the burn.
The Tribal is the perfect benchmark ball for me on this house shot.It’s strong enough to get down the lane on this fresh house shot.It let’s me play the part of the lane that the oil is at, yet is strong enough at the backend when it encounters the friction..The Tribal let me play more direct through the front part of the lane starting the league session. Standing 21 and directing it over 9 at the breakpoint the Tribal cleared the heads and midlane without ever wanting to stand up early .When it hit the breakpoint the response was fast, but more controlled than the Primal Rage. And the continuation though the end of the lane through the pin deck helped the carry on the fresh.
During the 2-3 games on this pattern all I had to do is move in small zones of 2-1.For me being able to play the drying lanes with the Tribal without have to change balls often or jump area codes was amazing. By the end of the night I was at 28 over 17 out to 13-14 at the breakpoint. This helped me make only parallel moves instead of angular. The Tribal did the angular part .By making the smaller adjustments really helps me relax and loosens up my swing, because you know the ball will recover on the push later on.
The Tribal does what it was designed to do. It gave me more length than the Primal Rage but with the same shape, but with a slower response to friction.It gets through the drying heads,and helps get through the push on the burn.while still maintaining a strong angular move at the breakpoint.
MOTIV filled the spot in the line- up that was missing. Dry-medium oil ball that was angular.Yet still usable on THS as a benchmark for some of us.

My Motiv Tribal: Drilled same as my Primal Rage Pin 1 inch above ring finger / CG 2 inches below ring finger
The Tribal is another great addition to follow the Primal Rage. Both the Tribal and the Primal Rage share the same cover the Fusion Pearl Reactive but in the Tribal the core is light blub core which is a first for a MOTIV ball. So you may ask what will be the difference.
The Tribal is much cleaner in the fronts than the Rage and more versatile than I was expecting, I have been able to open the lane and still get it back.
The cover is 2000 grit with Motiv Power Gel for shine. If you bowl in an older center or a center with high friction I would suggest taking the cover up to 4000 and use Power Gel to get through the mids.
Conditions I have used the Tribal on: 2013 USBC National’s, Yellow Brick Rd, Bourbon Street and various house/modified house shots.
Where it fits in my bag: It's now the second most angular ball in my bag and fits under my Primal Rage when that is hooking too much.
When I use it: Typically I start with my Primal Rage and when it is hooking too much and I need a ball that will get down lane and control the back ends I use the Tribal. That seems to be the start/middle of game 2 A THS. On a sport pattern I will take it one around game 3-4

Motiv Tribal Ball Review
With the Tribal I have found that it complements the Primal Rage really well, as well as solves the issues I had with the Thrash Frenzy. For me, I really enjoyed the motion of the Thrash Frenzy. My only issue with the Thrash Frenzy was that in needed friction. It was great on high friction surfaces and when patterns broke down, but if I didn’t get it to the dry the ball really had a hard time picking up.
The Tribal solves this problem for me with the stronger cover. This ball, for me is more usable which is always good. The ball is great on high friction surfaces still but handles more volume than the Thrash Frenzy. The Tribal has been usable for me on high volume patterns with some break down, house patterns on high friction surfaces, and shorter high volume patterns when there is some carry down.
The Tribal for me has been a great compliment to the Primal Rage. When I get too far left with my pin down Primal Rage and it starts to bog down a little and my pin up Primal Rage comes off the pattern still too hard the Tribal has been a perfect solution as I can move back a few boards right and usually generate more room down lane.
Tribal #1 Layout 55 x 4 ¾ x 80
This layout for me puts the Pin about 1 ½ inch under my bridge and the CG is kicked 45 degrees with a weight hole about 1 ½ inch south of my midline. This ball has been the ball I go to on the fresh especially on house shots. This layout however starts to labor a little bit when I have to move too deep. I have been able to use this ball more on the fresh as it is pretty controllable off the pattern.
Tribal #2 Layout 60 x 5 x 40
This layout for me puts the pin about 1 inch above my bridge with the CG kicked about 25 degrees with no extra hole. This ball has been great for me on the burn and when I have experienced carry down as I is clean through the fronts and has a little more pop off the pattern.
Overall I have been extremely pleased with the Tribal and where it fits into my arsenal. Like advertised this ball has been a go to ball for me on light to medium volume patterns and high friction surfaces as well. This ball has also been a great option for the burn when I need something to get through the heads clean and still have enough to get through the carry down.

The new Motiv Tribal is the latest bowling in the wonderful line of Motiv products. The Tribal is one of the most versatile bowing balls that Motiv has come out with its aggressive look and skid-flip reaction that gives the Tribal a long, very angular reaction that is very continuous through the backend, the Tribal is another wonderful piece in the Motiv line. The Tribal introduces a brand new generation light bulb core, the Halogen. The new Halogen core 2.55 RG that allows push done the lane and moderate .037 differential that retains energy that allows the bowler to get push down the lane and the retain energy can give you explosive backend reaction. The Motiv Tribal is a great ball to go to when the lanes breakdown or the Primal Rage is giving off too much backend. What I also like about the Tribal is how versatile it can be. I can play up the boards on heavier oil conditions, to hooking the lane on lighter patterns or high friction built up due to play. Being a high rev player when I’m bowling in league on a THS, this is a great ball to use on all three games because of the tremendous length I get and a violent, continuous backend reaction. Lower rev players will love this ball once the lanes breakdown and are uncomfortable moving in; they can switch to the Tribal and stay in the same spot without much movement with their feet.

Likes: Great complement to the Primal Rage. I really like it on high friction environments especially on surfaces that hook a lot and have been bowled on for a bit. It is very continuous, and offers plenty of length. Just not as angular as the red ball. Very good for those who wish to play straighter angles as well.
Dislikes: Allergic to oil in out of box condition. Not enough core to sufficiently move deeper and play open angles through the front part of the lane. Stick to either the Primal Rage or Raptor Talon for heavier oil patterns depending on how fast of a response to friction you want.

Length: Easy length. I put a pin down layout on it, and even with that it gets down the lane easily.
Back End: Nice hard arcing movement on the back once it meets friction. I didn't want it to be too snappy, as I usually run into over/under reaction with balls set up that way. It's a nice hard arc. Great motion.
Overall Hook: They can call it a dry lane ball all they want, but it's definitely medium at the lowest. I would have no problem moving right and playing on heavy stuff if I had too. As long as there's some friction on the backend I wouldn't have any issue.
Midlane Read: With my layout, I'd say midlane is decent. Not exactly a benchmark style reaction though, so not this balls strong suit.
Breakpoint Shape: Like I said, nice predictable hard arc.
COMMENTS
Likes: I really love how consistent and reliable this ball is. I've drilled several for people in my area and that's the biggest "like" about it. It's consistent, reliable, and forgiving. Also, I'm able to carry very well with it. Weather it's light, high, flush, seems to carry well. Throws pins around, a lot of messengers taking out 9's for me.
Dislikes: I wish I could play it longer into the night. Once there's a little carry down after 2 or 3 games it gets a little squirrely on me. I'm going to drill up another one, pin up, to combat this. Can't wait to get another one. Overall, this ball is one of the special ones.

Description: Fusion Pearl Reactive coverstock + Halogen core = Tribal. Out of box the Tribal sits at 2000 polished. The FPR cover proved successful with the Primal Rage so needless to say I was very pleased to see the party kept going with the make of the Tribal, if your primal rage becomes “too much†ball this is where the Tribal comes in as its purpose is to complement the Primal Rage. The engine being the Halogen light bulb core provides a 2.55 rg which gets the ball down lane accompanied by a .037 differential, the Tribal retains energy for a barbarous backend on light oil conditions.
Reaction: My Tribal is longer than my Primal Rage and eight boards weaker in the backend which is what I expected when I saw the dna blueprint of the ball, this ball is very similar to the primal rage in terms of barbarous continuation. Out of box the Tribal will provide you with Motiv’s version of skid/flip, what I mean by that is when the ball encounters friction it’s not going to make an uncontrollable move. To further experiment I also took the polish off of the Tribal leaving the cover at 2000 and the ending result was that the length remained the same but the ball reaction two boards earlier. If you were a fan of the redballrage but you want to go smaller the Tribal is where you want to go.
Conditions THS (40 feet): I’ve used the Tribal out of box at 2000 polished as well as 2000 abralon without polish. The ball motion I got out of it was clean and long as the ball didn’t read until the end of the pattern. Once it found what it was looking for it made a controllable flip off the pattern. Standing in the same area as I would with my Primal Rage at 25 targeting 15 the tribal gave me a predictable skid flip motion I’ve never had before, when it encounters the friction the ball didn’t grab instead it just ignored it and made its continuous move. The polish gives the Tribal a smooth transition off the pattern. At 2000 with no polish I was able to stand in the same area that I mentioned above but this I could see the ball grab the friction and hard controllable flip off the pattern, I could see the ball go through the reaction stages without the polish.
Atlanta Pattern (38 feet): I had no difficulty at all throwing the Tribal on this pattern. The pattern played to my strength allowing me to play inside standing 20 targeting 15, as the pattern transition I gravitated left standing 25 while still targeting 15. The friction was never a problem for the Tribal, as it increased the further left I gravitated and was able to enjoy its angular ball motion.
Summary: The Tribal is a great complement to the Primal Rage when it becomes too much ball for the condition; The Tribal in my bag is best suited for medium to light medium conditions. I did use this ball on a heavier house shot pattern and the success was moderate but I was also using the ball outside of its realm, the Tribal isn’t built for heavy oil but that’s where the Cruel Intent comes into play. On the mediums and below this ball will shine and dominate.

It is new ball time! Introducing the MOTIV Tribal, the Tribal features the awesome Fusion Pearl cover stock which is featured on the Primal Rage (#redball) but with the new Halogen core, and a lower price point! With a bad ass black/red Neo Mark logo and a beautiful silver pearl look, the Tribal will be some fresh ink to your bowling bag.
I have drilled two Tribals so far. I decided to try some different layouts with this release. The first Tribal I drilled was 45 x 4.75 x 70 the pin ends up under my bridge with a weight hole 2†down my VAL. This has become my benchmark ball to gander what the lanes are giving me. This layout gives me the right shape when the lanes are fresh. The second Tribal I drilled is 55 x 5 x 30 which places the pin over my ring finger pretty high above the grips. This ball is awesome when the lanes begin to break down or on shorter house patterns with hooking backends. The Halogen core is very smooth and predictable, or can be angular due to the Fusion Pearl coverstock depending on layout.
In comparison to the other bowling balls in the MOTIV line, this ball is going to get A LOT of play for me. It is clean through the front part of the lane and more angular down lane than every ball besides the Primal Rage. Calling the Tribal a Thrash Frenzy on steroids is an understatement!

Here’s the scenario, you’re deep into a qualifying round of a tournament and the Primal Rage has been the bread and butter of the day. Unfortunately, with any long tournament those lanes can become a bit toasty and angularity of your shot has the reach the point of questionable carry and borderline uncontrollable. You find yourself in a bit of a predicament; you enjoy the roll of that Primal Rage but the risk increases with each shot thrown, what do you do?

Introducing the MOTIV Tribal!
The Tribal is the best of both worlds when looking for aggressive angles, continuation but with a lengthy skid-flip reaction suitable for those lighter to middle oil patterns. With the praise and proven Fusion Pearl Reactive cover stock found on, you guessed it, #RedBall, Primal Rage. This cover stock is wrapped around the all new Light Bulb shape, the Halogen Core allowing it to get further down the lane but retain its energy for power backend motion.
Of the 3 leagues that I bowl in weekly, two of these leagues are rolled on a broken down second shift shot. My first set out of the box with this ball in my hand consist of a 300 and the flexibility to play any line with all the comfort in the world. This ball has quickly become a great complement to my Primal Rage; it offers the perfect 1-2 punch in the form of versatility. Several weeks ago, I found myself in a situation where I was forced to play a minor angle outside of the 10 board in hopes to carry. Any shot that was thrown inside of 10 at layout would either not face up or would result in weak to flat 7 pins as I am left handed. The best solution left to me was to play a lay down spot of 8 and break-point at 5 to 6 at about 40 feet. The Tribal proved to be more than up for the task with the right amount of long to make it down lane without reading the friction too early, but also retains its energy to offer the continuation that carry does not go out the window.

I have been rolling the Tribal for a few weeks now and the only reason I got it was that I needed a ball that would get down the lane a little farther and not burn up mid lane. This ball has done it for me, it is so smooth and such a arc like reaction on the back end. It does not snap or over turn for me, it makes a move on the back end, but it isn't so violent that I go through the nose and leave 4 counts if I get slow. I was looking for something that I may need to straighten up with or slow down and swing and not I have a ball that I can do both with while not sacrificing carry. Pick one up it is an amazing piece.

The tribal has been a great addition to my arsenal. I drilled my Tribal 60 X 4 1/2 X 40 and I must say that its quickly becoming one of my favorite balls. My Tribal is super clean through the front part of lane with perhaps the most angular motion in the backend that I have personally ever seen from Motiv. This ball has become my "Go TO" ball once the lanes transition or break down. The Tribal only gives me issues if I try and throw it on fresh longer oil conditions. However, I normally start with one of the three (Primal Scream, Cruel Intent, or Primal Rage) and then ball down as needed to the Tribal. One of my favorite things about the Tribal is the pin carry. No matter how straight or deep the angle, the Tribal finds away to maximize pin carry. I love the fact that I can chase most patterns deeper or inside and never sacrifice pin carry. Likes: This ball is a fantastic compliment to the Primal Rage. It is about 3 feet longer in reaction time and makes just as good a move as the Primal. When the Primal becomes too much off the spot, the Tribal is the go to without really having to move from where you are. The Tribal makes just as good a move off the spot and hits just as hard. It is very quickly becoming my favorite ball. I hardly ever lose carry when I have to move in with it as the lanes dry out. It keeps reading the lane as smooth as ever and never loses hitting power. This ball is a must have in the bag with the Primal Rage as a 1-2 punch!
Great Job MOTIV!!! This ball has MOTIV-ated everyone around me and looks appealing on the shelf as well.
