300 with the Raptor P7
« on: August 02, 2012, 08:52:08 PM »
Tonight, i did the rarity for me and shot 300. 2nd (sanctioned) of my career. Gotta love my motiv. My Raptor P7 is set up 45x4.5x35. The reason for such a strong drill is I didnt think it was going to be that strong and if it was i wanted it to be an oiler. Its that and more. What surprises me is the versatility of the ball. At box it's a great ball for decently oiled THS and medium sport patterns. I just never really found enough oil to throw it more than 8, 9 frames then it goes back in the bag.

This summer i was determined to throw this ball so i took to AMF Walnut Hill in Petersburg, Va and bowled the summer league. With the incredible amount of oil the house puts out, the Raptor really gets a chance to show off. Took it to 1000 abralon and the ball rolls tremendous. Have since shot games of 300(tonight), 298, 288, 278(x2), 267 through 12 weeks of 14 of this league. The only problem i have is that i can only throw it for 1.5 games and none of my other motivs give me that look. Which is why im buying another one and polish it. Let me explain, im never really a fan of drilling 2 of the same ball, mostly because there just arent a lot of balls, in my opinion, that are that versatile without being really rolly and there will always be a pearl, solid, or hybrid coming out that will fill the void. I love the way this ball corners and there will be a 2nd one in my bag.

I know what you're thinking. "Why not drill the Raptor Attack? Pearl follows solid, right?" Well, i did. For me, the Attack is rollier than the solid and, by laying it out 50x4.5x25, I was told be a Motiv staffer that i created a hook/set reaction and not the cornering backend reaction i was looking for. Now, i do like my attack. Its a great THS ball for me, especially on the THS in my home house. It allows me to get deeper than the other lefties in my league and play the lanes tighter to the head pin, in the oil, where most arent so i have that area to myself. But i love the core of the solid and feel that the primal impulse cover makes the ball have to be in friction to be effective. So for the 1st time ever, lol, I'll be laying out another of a ball i already have. GO TEAM MOTIV!!
